Some manufacturers specify only to use rubber washers inside the tank, and only one bolt on bottom. I usually assemble the bolt with one metal washer on bolt ( or bolt with large head) then a rubber washer, then through tank, then another washer, then a metal washer (brass or stainless) then another nut. Snug these nuts up tight, but be careful not to over tighten or you'll break the tank. Do this to all the bolts. Then set the tank on bowl, with the bolts extending through the bottom. Make sure your gasket is up all the way on the nipple, so the tank will tighten to the stops on the bowl. Now put another set of rubber washer, and metal washer and nut (thumb nuts are fine here) Tighten till tank doesn't rock and is resting on stops. Now it doesn't have to be so tight, as the bolts are already tight in the tank. You can get a fluidmaster bolt kit at home depot that has enough bolts, washers and all

dalbritton-

The handles are fixed to the tank body with a hex nut on the back (inside of the tank. They may not have been tightened properly from the factory. Tighten a bit with a wrench and you're good to go!

My tank bolt holes are leaking

If you cannot tighten them, then they will need to be replaced. Turn off the water supply valve, flush the toilet and bail out as much residual water as possible. Remove the old bolts and separate the tank from the bowl. Replace the old tank gasket and refasten the tank with new bolts, properly placing rubber washers symetrically. An added precaution that I use is (after drying the inside of the tank well) is applying a dab of clear elastomeric sealant to the top of each bolt head, working it past the edges of the bolt heads onto the tank. Allow the sealant to cure as per directions. Open the supply valve slowly and allow the tank to fill. Inspect the tank bolt holes for leaks.

TOTO DRAKE flushes then the tank fills, stops, then slowley leaks and the water just runs on and on at a trickle pace down the overflow spout.

The rubber stopper that is inside the back of the tank is allowing water to get by do to:
(1.) Be wore out- must be replaced with a new one.
(2.) The chain that is connected to the flush handle needs to be adjusted. However, if it has not been messed with recently, then it will be the (1.)

I have two new Drake toilets that were installed. The first one is working great but the second on is leaking from the bolt & nut that is connecting the tank to the bowl. Can You help?

It sounds like the tank bolts are not sealing. Make sure you used the rubber washer on the inside of the tank under the bolt. Also make sure bolt is fairly centered before tightening. You can purchase a set of tank bolts from your local home improvement center that contains rubber washers that will seal on both the top and bottom of the tank. In proffessional installations this is what I do. I hope this helps. Please vote on advise. Thank you.

Toto toilet is constantly running, even though the tank is full

it sounds like it might be the floater ball in the toilet you can adjust the tension on it usually with a screwdriver.... if you look from the top down you should see a screw on the top of the arm that holds the floater adjust the tension and hopefully this will work

My Toto Drake toilet makes a noise like it is gasping for air when the tank is refilling with water. The water flow stops and starts while this noise is being made.

just simply clean the auto switch, the noosle where the water comes out when the floater goes down everytime the tank is empty with water.
