You do not set the resolution at the TV, the video signal you are feeding it has to be 1080i, TV will only display what you are feeding it with, just the same as you set the PC video resulotion at the PC, not at the monitor.

I have a 65 inch toshiba cinema series it's says

if a large rear projection set that just says HD, it likely is HD ready which means it needs a set top box connected to the Colorstream input marked 1080 on the rear of the set--It will only likely be 1080i and not p---owner manual would confirm this.

Cant get the tv off of 480i needes to be on 1080i

Don't know your model # but generally speaking they sense the resolution of the input device and set themselves properly... Are you feeding it a 1080i signal? If not, you can't make it 1080 without using an external device, like an upverter.

Can't get to full screen. I need to be at 1080i

The 'ASPECT', 'PICTURE MODE', 'ZOOM' button on the remote will let you adjust the aspect ratio of the display.
The 1080i/p, 720i/P resolution is not done at the TV, its the video source that determine what resolution the TV will display, same way as your PC monitor works, it is control by the PC Video resolution setting.

How do i change from 480i to 1080 on my Toshiba 52HM95 DLP im trying to hook up my playstation 3 with an HDMI cable but it wont switch over to 1080i

Most TVs choose the resolution based on the signal coming in. Be careful if you try and use 1080P. Not all TVs support it. 1080P is only on HDMI. set the playstation to 1080i before connection.
Some TVs and Playstation HDMI do not mix well due to software in the HDMI ports. Try RGB cables.

Other inputs not working on rear projection toshiba

check for progressive scan and interlaced setting also verify if you have component hook up that it auto maticall chooses your resolution because if your tv is waiting for 1080i and you send 1080p it will not always work and if it expects 1080i and you send it 480i(s-video or rca connection) it may not automatically flip

480i is displayed on the 62HM95 even when I play my Sony BluRay

I called toshiba (the television manufacturer) and they told me that the tv recognized the devices and then adjusts to the resolution according to the device of where its receiving the signal (HDMI).In this case my blu ray was not set to the 1080i resolution. Yesterday I set it up and BAM there it was.
