If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

GE Dryer PBSR353ET5WW.. I believe this unit is manufactured in Canada.. unit works, but does not heat up..

Check and clear the lint filters, and reset the circuit breaker. If your dryer still does not heat up, it is likely that the SWITCH controlling the heating element, OR the HEATING ELEMENT ITSELF is faulty and needs to be replaced.

What do I do if my dryer runs, but does not heat?

Hello my name is Heath the problem is probably a bad heating element. If the dryer runs but does not heat then the heating element is bad and will need to be replaced.

Just replaces heating element in GE dryer. Dried one load but does not work, now. Light works, so it has power. Suggestions?

I would check the thermal fuse or thermostat. If the thermal fuse is blown check for obstructions in your vent then replace. For a video on testing these components go to scroll down to troubleshooting an electric dryer.

Ge dryer not drying but running a full cycle. sometimes turns off early

If it is electric then your heating coil is broken and needs to be replaced. If it is a gas dryer then it is most likely your electric igniter element that is cracked and prevents the unit from firing up.

Ok got a GE DVL223EB1WW Insufficent Heat

Yes think so , what should happen is element heats up controlled by fan blowing cold air across it this then heats to whatever thermostat is set to switch at, which in turn controls heat level..Air is then exausted via hose to waste unless its a condenser drier which then turns the steam back to water / which is collected in a waste condesate drum..hope this is helpful...

It is very common for elements to "catch fire" when they fail. It is really electical arching. But to answer your question you shouldnt be concerned if it ever happens to the bottom element immediatly kill the breaker it will stop instantly. dont use a fire extinguisher as it wont stop the arching. And most ovens do use the upper broil element for baking for very short intervals like 10secs on every minute or so to brown the top of product. Some models (especially older builder line ) do not
