Question about Toshiba DVD Recorder AND Series2 TiVo 120GB DVR

Yesterday I got a message saying, Media Server has only 3 days of program left. DMS must connect successfully to the Tivo service. I restated system today, and now it sayes only 2 days left. What do I do?

Make sure the tivo phone line is plugged in. it needs to make a call every now and then to update software

Hi Margret -

(1) You must have available space on the recorder. If it is full, you will need to delete enough programs to provide the room needed for the new recording.
(2) You also need to be subscribing to an entertainment program package that includes the channel that the show appears on.
(3) Depending on the service (Tivo, Directv, Dish, CableTV, etc.) there may be other requirements. The quickest response to get this resolved for you will be contacting the service provider (Tivo, Directv, Dish, CableTV, etc.)

Why am I getting a Temporary Service Connection Error message?


Tivo won't know this until you tell it.... you need to change your network settings on your Tivo to reflect the new SSID and password...........

Icant record some programs it shows TO BE ANNOUNCED


When you connect to the Tivo service, you get 2 weeks of scheduling information from the day you connect. This program may be airing beyond this two weeks. If you know for a fact that the program is airing less than weeks from today, if may have been cancelled or something. Check the home page of the channel it was supposed to appear on to verify.

on front of receiver, there is a door that you can open. behind the door there is a red reset button. press the red reset. this should fix the problem

Tivo HD displays ''hdmi connection not permitted''


This happened to me many times with my Sharp 40" LCD. I am actually running 2 tvs of of 1 HD Tivo. One in the bedroom with HDMI and then through the wall into my kitchen tv via Component. ( yes whatever is on in the bedroom plays in the kitchen).. So this AM my power dropped out for a few seconds then came back on. When the Tivo rebooted I got that " hdmi connection not permitted" message. In the past, I would just reboot everything and all would be ok.. But today I couldnt get the tv with the HDMI to display the programming. It would show the tivo menus, but when I tried to play anything or watch live tv, the message would pop up again. The kitchen TV with the components was working the whole time...
So finally I rebooted the Tivo one more time. But this time I left the HDMI cable unplugged from the Sharp in the bedroom untill the Tivo was fully booted and a live channel was playing in the kitchen. I then plugged the HDMI back into the bedroon TV, and it came back on. Im not saying this will work for you, But its worth a try

Humax DRT400 Tivo won't burn content to DVDs


My solution is going to require entering the unit, so you may want a qualified service tech to perform the job, but i would check the connection between the burner and the board.

If you know that you do not have a cabling problem, then it sounds like a bad motherboard. If you have TiVo lifetime service, you should consider a flat-fee repair service such as the one here.

Daily calls


TiVo-powered DVRs will attempt to make the daily call at approximately the same time of day as it was last able to connect successfully. This means that if you set up your DVR initially around 2 PM, or if it failed during an overnight call and retried during the day (and got through one day around 2), it will continue trying at that time every day. You are not able to use the phone line while it connects -- it uses the same type of modem that your computer uses to connect. The good news is that you can indeed reschedule the next attempt, but it's not exactly a setting you can change -- stay up late, and force it to connect manually overnight. If it completes normally, it will make the next attempt the next night at the same time, on its own.
