Philips TV Model 32DW6557/05 Screen Problem

I have a Philips TV Model No. 32DW6557/05. The picture horizontal alignment moves across from right to left leaving a black 1 - 2 inches margin. The picture moves back again but not fully. Am I correct in assuming that the Horizontal Synchronization Circuitry is the fault ? If this is the case, does the pcb need replacing ? Can the pcb be repaired ? Does it require specialist tools and knowledge ?

I think that the problem lies with the horizontal sychchronization circuitry board. I would like to invite a qualified technician to confirm this is the case. In the 1960's when TV's had valves, slapping the TV may well have been the answer. I beggar belief that a pcb would respond in such a way. Please do not give me such inane advice!!!

Hi it sounds like a capacitor in the verticle circuit located on the main board. it is near the verticle ic. the verticle ic also could be bad the cost is around 85 dollars for a tv shop to fix. sometime a cold joint could be found around vert ic. a soldering iron is required with solder.tap the side of tv if picture comes back it is just cold solder joint.

thanks Doctor video

Hi i am a tech. i have a video repair shop since 1987. We fix plasmas lcd tv dlp and crts medical equipment and i am authorized..

I hope i can help. What i ment by taping the tv if you have a collapsed picture only a horz line that would tell me if picture comes back full .it would be cold solder connection on board and yes we see lots of these problems.

I will give you a few examples of what it could be.

I SUSPECT A LEAKY CAPACITOR ON PCB BOARD.

2.IT COULD BE INTERFERANCE IN TUNER MODULE

3CHECK FPR NOISE INTERFERANCE FROM TV CONNECTIONS OR HOUSE.

4 If you have cable box i found them bad because of ps problem diconnect cable box from tv see if that is it.

disconnect cable box turn it back on thanks Doctor video

An older tube model - audio okay, no video - only a narrow line across the middle horizontally

Sad to say this is likely the death of it.
Technically, the time base line output has ceased to function.
Unless you feel it's a full blown crusade to have a vintage working TV you're going to have a hell voyage (unless you're extemely lucky) of cost in time and money to get that put right which you may decide aint' a road worth going down.
Better to put your money into a new flat screen TV but if you've the storage space don't scrap the old TV. Depending on it's present age it will be worth something soon to a collector or theatre/TV/movies props hire supplier.

I HAVE A SONY KLV-40U100M IS THERE AN ADJUSTMENT FOR HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL. MY PICTURE IS MOVING ACROSS THE SCREEN FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THERE ARE GRAY BARS SEPERATING THE PICTURE. COLOR IS ALSO MISSING.

You've got more happening than an adjustment. There is an IC that handles the sync and my guess is that is bad. You'll probably need a pro if you're not familiar with TV circuits.

Picture is too large for the screen, horizontally.

No my friend, there is a problem with the width circuit, and this would be in the pincussion correction circuit of the TV set. There is alot of high voltage in this circuit, and if you have no TV repair experience, play it safe and call in a tech to service this for you. there is not any adjust ment that will fix this. Good Luck
