This is not something you should do all the time. hold down your power button until your system goes off, start it again and it will give you the option if to start in safe mode or not, or you could restart the system and follow the other above proceedures instead of shutting it down wrongly, anyways one of them should work

A toshiba laptop..boots..when windows opens it turns white ..and can't to anything..

Hello,

Try booting to safe mode and check if it does the same thing.

Here's how you can boot to safe mode with networking.

Restart you computer and tap F8. Use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode and press enter.

If you can boot to safe mode with networking, then update the drivers of your computer by going to the device manger or you can install RadarSync to scan for outdated drivers and update them .

Fix satellite c655 toshiba laptop lcd screens

If the start up menu displays, it could be a video driver issue. Try to start in safe mode ; press F8 at start up and choose safe mode.

I restarted my Toshiba satellite a305 and now it won't boot up or go into safe mode. It comes to the start up screen that says press f2 for setup f12 for boot manager. It will let me go into setup and boot...

If it won't let you go to safe mode, then there's something that the BIOS(setup) or Boot Manager needs before starting the operating system(Windows Vista). You should have a Toshiba Recovery Disk which will fix this . The disk will not touch any of your current files and data,so don't worry about that.

Hi, I have a toshiba equium A110-233, a little elderly I know ! All was working fine until I turned it on a couple of days ago and now only get the initial toshiba screen then nothing, not even the cursor...

Hi shirley_ann1,

This problem that you have with your PC is a NO BOOT issue. After getting the startup Toshiba logo it's not booting up to your Windows. This could be a hardware or software problem depending on the result of the diagnostics that I'll be walking you through below, but definitely this issue can still be fixed.

Here's how:

1. If this is a software issue you can determine it by booting up on safe mode. To go to safe mode:
  • Shutdown the computer then turn it back on
  • The moment you turn on you PC keep on tapping F8 button until Safe Mode menu shows.
  • Then select Safe Mode, press enter.
If you'll be able to boot up on Windows using Safe Mode then you just have to reload your operating system. You will use the recovery disc that goes with your machine when you purchase it.

2. If it's a hardware issue you will not be able to boot up even on Safe Mode or even go to BIOS when you keep on tapping F2 during startup. This means your harddrive is corrupted or defetive. It needs to be reimaged or replaced.

Hope this will help you resolve your concern.

Thank you for using Fixya.

When the system boots up, click on the start button, then click on run and type msconfig and hit enter. Go to the Boot tab, look at the lower box and uncheck "safe boot" if it is checked.

Toshiba Satellite won't boot up

While you have it in safe mode, make sure you back up all your personal data to a cd as is sounds like it is not going to last much longer. After you back up all your information....Documents, Pictures, Music...etc... Then I would reformat the machine with the original installation disc that came with the computer. That should fix the problem. Never even heard of a boot processor :)
