How big cpu, ram mem. can i fit on motherboard for the gateway GM4019E. by the way no probs. just gammer running windows 7 with time to put into it. is it worth it.

AMD 64 6000+ , max 2GB of DDR400 . No, it's not worth upgrading, it's an old board meant for a Media Center pc - not even when it was new it was not a gamer machine.

Installing windows xp and computer says ALTDR is compressed

ALTDR.EXE is a virus. You will need to remove it with anti-virus software and then install windows (or you could format the drive before installing windows xp, if you don't have anything on it you want to save).

Have you re-installed the drivers that came on a disc with the PC? Is your wireless connection protected in any way? Have you checked that there is any bandwidth getting to your modem/router?
