Applications shut down when printing

My applications are shutting down whenever I try printing, I'm working on a mac and whenever I open up a photo and go to the print option under File it shuts the application down. I've tried it in Preview, Photoshop, and Safari. When I'm printing text, if I go under the File > Print option it will shut down that program. The one and only time that it doesn't shut down is when I'm running word, and I actually click the icon for printing. Other than that Cmd+P and File>Print does not work.

Try resetting the SMC
Before Resetting the SMC Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
  1. Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
  2. Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
  3. Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
  4. Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
If your Mac appears to be running normally but isn't responding, force the computer to shut down by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds. Note: You will lose any unsaved work in any open applications.
For Mac portables experiencing issues related to the MagSafe power adapter and/or battery, try:
  1. Unplug the MagSafe power adapter from the Mac and the wall power socket for several seconds.
  2. Shutdown the Mac. Physically remove and re-insert the battery (if it's removable) and startup the Mac.
If the issue is still not resolved after following the troubleshooting items above, an SMC reset may be necessary.

HP LaserJet 4100 for all applications in windows 7. When I go to print a document and click on print. The print screen exits, the print job doesn't processes, and the print queue stays empty. Noth

Ideas? Yes. I had this happen on an LJ 1000 while trying to print my tax return. I tried emptying the queue, removing power from the printer, etc, etc. What finally worked was to empty the queue (again), disconnect power from the printer, shut down the computer, plug in the printer again, restart the computer, queue up a print job again, and hit PRINT.
Hope this works for you

I have an ibook g3 , it works ok with mac os x but when i shut down , it did not want to open again on osx, it apears the ? question and not start again, and if i shut down the dark screan apears, please...

We ran a typical Ibook G3 14 inch battery of tests, including games, applications, and a couple other areas. Time constraints limited the amount of testing we could get done before the NDA lift (and it's already a few hours late), but we will be providing a follow-up article with further testing and information. That said, if there are any specific areas that you'd like to see tested, feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment.

Similar problem... Really annoying

The issue happens due to quantity of applications at the background. Reducing the quantity of startup applications might help. Just type MSCONFIG after clicking run, At startup tab uncheck the non-essential applications
If you need further assistance please post
Good Luck

LG KU990 - Maximum no of applications

It is possible to open multiple applications at once (shown by a "two overlapping squares" symbol in top line of main display - you may have opened several without shutting them down and reached a maximum. Click on Multitasking button (grid shaped button at top right of main screen) to see what applications are open and close them down.
If this doesn't work, power phone off, then on and see if that works.

Printer

Which OS do you have 10.4 or 10.5?

To add printers in 10.5 go to your system preferences and you will see a Printer & Fax icon. This is where you add printers.

In 10.4 go to your applications folder and then into your Utilities folder. There is Printer Utility application where you can add printers from there.
