You may have a leaky projection TV tube. You may call a tech and have them to refill the fluid to one of the three projection tubes. This requires a tech to do this for you! Thanks for asking and good luck!

Purple spot on kdf-e60a20. Screen

its possible something in this DLP is on the lens that projects the picture onto the screen or the mirror (do not touch it) or between the lens and the inside of the screen---anything will if there show up in the picture.

In some cases I have used compressed air to dust these out but carefully.

Little white spots appearing. Started with one now have 8. They look like little stars. TV is only 2-years old

most likely a problem with the optical engine. that tv is a DLP and it uses a DMD device that is made by texas instruments that has millions of tiny mirrors on the face that move independantly and the white spots are going to be stuck mirrors that are not moving. suggest calling mitsubishi customer support for possible repair accomodation. that repair depending on the labor would be around $1500.00 total parts cost is around $1100.00. mitsubishi customer support 1-800-332-2119

White spots on TV Screen

DLP/mirror chip is going bad. A common problem on Sammy TVs after 2-3 years. Chip is user replaceable (try samsungparts.com or ebay) for about $150-200. Sammy was (last year) repairing the DLP White Spot problem for free. You MUST talk to ECR (executive customer service) to even think about getting that consideration--forget the standard CS people. Don't know if they are still covering this out of warranty in 2010.

I have white dots appearing on my samsung dlp.

If the white spots are appearing in different spots or "Moving" it is the DMD board beginning to fail. Samsung DLPs seem to have a lot of DMD board failures. I would expect it to completely fail in the next couple months.

If there are only a couple small white spots that never go away it could be a mirror that is seized on the chip, but it's far more likely that the DMD board is going bad.

Mirrors going bad. White and black spots are apperaing on my screen. More each day. It is my understanding that tiny mirrors are not turning off or on. Purchased DLP 46'' Samsung January 2007

Well here's the scoop. White spots mean that the mirrors are stuck "on" reflecting light. Black spots mean that other mirrors are not actuating and are not reflecting light. In any case the DMD bs or the DMD chip needs to be replaced by a trained Samsung tech only.
The DMD bd controls the DMD chip.

HOW TO GET RID OF THE WHITE SPOTS

Hello fish_aholic,

Those white spots are the mirrors on the DMD IC failing to respond to the input signals. The most likely cause is that the transistors operating the mirrors have failed. In other words the only way to fix this problem is to replace the DMD IC. Your best bet is to replace the module the DMD is on. You will need the schematic diagram to get the part number. I would also like to suggest that you get a qualified TV technician to examine and repair this problem. This is to avoid any damage that may occur.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

White spots on screen and growing every day

If these spots are small, they are likely the visual effect of a failing DLP chip. When some of the tiny mirrored surfaces on the chip stop moving, this is the result. This is not something you can fix yourself. A Samsung authorized service center will charge $400-$500 to replace it for you.
