1 Answer

I have a 20000 GMC truck with a radio/CD player. One or more bulbs which illuminate the face on the radio are burned out. Would like to replace the bulbs and wonder if this is something I can do myself. I have experience soddering. Where can the bulbs be purchased and how much are they? Mike

Take a look at this website.
This will give you a basic idea on what you are looking for.
Looks like it doesn't require any soldering.
Bulbs can be bought at Radio Shack.

Radio fuses

If it's an aftermarket CD player there's a fuse in the back of the unit. The car should have a fuse in the fuse box. Some CD players have a reset button behind the face you can use an ink pin to reset it

some radios have either a reset switch on the radio under the removeable face or somewhere on the bottom...or you might try removing power to the radio...if removing the radio is too much trouble then you can remove the battery lead ..wait about 10 min and then reconnect..this should reset the radio

My radio works but i can see the display for changing stations

there are tiny light bulbs attached to the circuit board of most radios that supply the illumination to the face, some can be easily changed like in Ford radio, others are hardwired to the circuit boards and require a skilled tech to replace them

My radio in my 2007 Acadia works fine , but the display just went blank .....Is there a separate fuse for the display ??? Thanks in Advance !!!

Unfotunately not. there is normally a small globe or LED running the face display. Remove the radio and open it up. Check the face side for any light bulb or LED. If it is a light bulb, you should be able to get a replacement part, Otherwise send it in for a repair. Hope this helps.

I burned a cd and it wont play in the cd player i have a 2003 ford focus with a blapunk ford radio the cd is a rw

Most older factory car radios won't play a burned disc. You could try a cd(+ or -) r instead of a rw. But it probably won't work. Some cd players work better with a specific brand of disc too.
Specifications can be found at the radio manufacturers web site.

In 2003 mp3's and burning discs was new to car audio so the radio may not be compatable.

Driving along and radio stopped working, the word "ocer" came across face of radio. Now, radio and cd player both will not work. Help!

I pushed the reset button and "standby" mode appeared. I proceeded to hit the source button and switched to tuner and cd player with no problems.
