All it takes is one little nick in any disc and the disc will not work at all. LIGHT scuffs do not matter just nicks

Glad it works for you now

This is just an update for the maps..and all changes made in the traffic ..and rules ...so that you will not end up on a one way street guided by the old maps...or so ..
The actual installation it doesnt take ..much ..and there is guidance and the executable on the disk does almost all...and every step is like when install a program ...you are asked and you choose the answer...probably you will have to choose stuff like language ..country or region ..and such ..
Just connect the device to the computer ..and run the disk ..

here you will find a user guide to see what exactly are the steps ...I see that you said something about the disk not loading ...be sure you have the driver for communication installed for the device ...if the gps came with a installation disk when you bought it ..this can be a cause for the actualization disk not to find the device ...and be sure the device is powered and on when you are trying to make the update ..

I followed the manual myself..and indeed thats what they say ..park in a safe place ..and after that leave the motor running ..and eject the old one ...and insert the new one ...It is supposed to find the program and update it ...and only after that update the data base...so ..even if it appears to do nothing leave it like it is ..cause it may take a while ...when it is ready it supposed to display that ..and the system ready to use right the way ..

It should get upgraded quickly but if its not getting upgraded and your old version is also not working then, Fix for an upgrade gone wrong:

If you find yourself with a non working unit or corrupted map data after the upgrade do not despair, there is still hope to "downgrade" your unit. First go to system settings and change the language (doesn't matter if it's to French or Spanish) Let the unit "upgrade" your unit again and make sure it goes well and finishes. then change the language back to English, but hit the eject button before the unit has a chance to start the upgrade. You will see "insert the appropriate disc" message. Take your old working disc (CNDV-50MT) for example and place it in the unit. IT will then "Upgrade" to the older version. You should now have your old version in English.
Then again try inserting the new version disc again and retry. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

AVIC N2 WONT READ MY NAV DISC,WHEN I PUSH MY MENU BUTTON IT SAYS INSERT APPROPRIATE DISC, NOT SURE WHAT DISC IT WHANTS

The nav discs come in a set of two. Disc 1 and Disc 2. Insert disc 1 first, if unit does not respond or read nav disc, then you may have a bad copy of the nav disc or incorrect copy.

You can't. The next upgrade disc (red) only works on newer, touch-screen models.
