Cannot delete recorded clips!!

Dear Fixya, I have just bought this camera. A Panasonic Pro AG-HPX170. When I record a clip, and then go into the playback screen, I cannot delete the clip. The option is there, but shadowed so I cannot select it. The only option I have is to format the entire card, wiping all footage. Please help find me a solution, as the manual is no help, and doesnt talk about what to do when menu items cant be selected...Many thanks in advance! Peter B

Panasonic Pro AG-HPX170. Hello. Ive got a problem with my new video camera. When ive recorded a clip, I cant seem to delete it. When I go to the playback thumbnail view, and go to the menu to delete the selected clip, the delete option is shadowed and I cant select it. The manual doesnt seem to have any answers for me. Can you help?

PROBLEM SOLVED. I feel terribly dumb by typing this, but I wasnt selecting the clip properly before trying to delete. On this camera you have to push in the joystick switch on the playback controls to select a clip, which then puts a blue box around the thumbnail of the clip. Then you can delete clips as you like. I was beforehand simply selecting the clip I wanted to play (yellow box only around thumbnail) and trying to delete. Naturally because no clips were selected, the camera couldnt delete anything. :)

Hi,
It seems that the you are in wrong mode. If you know that you are in right mode then it is a firmware problem. update your firmware....
For backing up your data you can remove the card and with the help of card reader you can take the back up of your card...
Hope this has helped you... Thanks...

Thankyou Yogesh. I will transfer the recorded video to the computer tomorrow, and then try and update the firmware... im sure panasonic can provide an update online.

I will also call Panasonic UK support tomorrow if this doesnt work. It took me forever to get their number, but I have it, and maybe they can help with a solution. Its strange to have a problem that nobody else has documented online.

Hi. The clip might be running that is why you cant delete that particular clip. Try to press the stop button and go back to the click and look for the delete options which is shadowed before.

All the best!

Hello there. Thanks for the help. I will try it tomorrow when I get back to work (its in locked storage there). I think ive already tried this, but then I could be playing a clip, then trying to delete it. This part of the playback interface isnt well explained... even though it seems straightforward. I will let you know if youve fixed my problem tomorrow. Thanks again.

Hello Angelo. Sadly it didnt work... I made sure that it was stopped before trying to delete, and I even went and selected other clips to delete, but they are all the same... The delete option is just in grey and not selectable... So concerned...

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

No sound when recording

Hi,

Please get your microphone tested, also, you can try testing the recording using external microphone.
It seems that the problem is with microphone contacts or internal loose connections.

Seem to be a minor one, hope it will be resolved with above methods.

Thanks.

Panasonic AG-455 Problem

The noise is most likely bad bearings in the video head assembly. No longer available from Panasonic. The b/w recording problem is most likely caused by a bad video board inside the camera. Unfortunately, the video board is also no longer available.

Sound Recording problem

Don't know if your problem exactly like mine, but playing back recordings in the camera always have weak sound. However when editing the clips using Imagemixer 3 on your computer, the sound is louder and you can boost it even further with the "Adjust Volume" function of Imagemixer.

What I use is a PCI TV card. Just pipe the video to the analog connection and run it full screen.
