OKI Support called me back and told me that the C3400n does not support Home Network sharing in the conventinal way. The printer has to be connected to the the router with its own ISP No. All computers on the network then access the printer through the router.

OK, on a network with windows 7, make sure you log on with 'administrator' rights and not the 'guest' account. The sharing works a little bit different than prior versions of windows.

Alright, so it requires its own ISP address. Noted for future reference.

Unfortunately the latest driver is for windows 7. However its just possible that if you connect via usb windows 8 will find and use a generic driver within its own database. I doubt if you could network it though. If that does not work then its time to but a newer printer.

Does the vista driver works with windows 7 32bit?

Probably not, If you recently upgraded from one version of Windows to another, it's possible that the current printer driver is for the previous version of Windows. If you've had recent power outages, viruses, or other computer problems, it's possible that the drivers have become damaged. Downloading and installing the latest driver for your printer can resolve these types of problems.Go to Microsoft.com at the top select downloads then select drivers then on the left printing and drivers third one down says download and instal drivers click on it then click on
Automatically get the latest drivers and software Windows Update checks for updated drivers and software for your devices and installs them automatically. Keeping Windows Update on is a good way to make sure your devices continues to work properly and you get the best experience with them.Hope this helps!

Installing OKI c3400n in Windows 7 32 bit

The c3400n does not have its own wireless capability. It must be connected to a wireless print server or to some wired network that has a wireless access point (WAP) connected to it. A third option is to use a home-networking wireless router.

Individual PCs must have wireless capability also, or they can't print over wireless.

Somewhere along the line the printer must get a local network IP address, i.e. 192.168.0.102. PCs usually use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to get an IP address.

But printers are usually manually set to a 'static' IP, because static IPs don't change over time.

Usually there is a security device called a 'firewall' to protect the wired network from unwanted wireless traffic.

So, you first require some form of wireless access.

The people who require wireless printing capability must have their computers configured to make an association to the WAP. Usually requires a passkey or password, depending on the wireless security method.

A port on the firewall must be forwarded to the port used by whichever network-printing protocol is being used to communicate with the printer. There are several possible protocols.

The printer must be set to an IP address unique within the private subnet, i.e. 192.168.0.0/16, used by the local network.

PC-based network-connected devices use IP (Internet Protocol) addressing, i.e. xyz.zxy.yzx.xzy

The printer must be connected to a network switch that is in some way accessible to the WAP. Residential/SOHO (Small Office Home Office) setups use a combination switch/router device, called simply: a router.

Most of the above is done automatically, but there are some set-up tasks that require user intervention. Electronic devices know how to configure everything, after they are given proper parameters.

All you need to do is check the above items. If the printer is found by MS Windows 'searching for network printers', the hard part is done. Then you just tell Windows to use the network printer.

Hp deskjet 550c trying to print from network But I am on windows 7. Printer is on xp. Can't find driver or fix to run printer on network

Use my published guide to install the latest drivers for all computers on the network. It is entitled
How to Install the latest drivers for Hewlett Packard Printer!!!
The drivers need to be installed on all computers in the network.

Then once the drivers are installed all you need to do is to navigate to the Windows control panel and double click printers and faxes on the computer that the printer is connected to.
Now right click the your printer and select the option Sharing, this will allow you to share the printer on the network.

Click the lower circle to share the printer.

Then when you print from another computer on the network, be sure to select this shared printer as the printer to print to, or set this shared printer as the default printer by right clicking the printer and selecting the option to set as default printer.

Please be sure to rate this session.

Take care!

I installed Windows 7 on my computer and since the installation my MX700 has refused to respond

You need an updated driver that works with Windows 7. Go to the following link, click "Software & Drivers", then select "Windows 7" from the drop down menu. You will want to install the first item on the list for networked printing, or the second item if you don't need networked printing.

My oki does not like my new laptop

Chances are that the cd you are using is for windows 2000 or XP.  That cd will not work with vista.  But, you are in luck.  The Oki C3400N is compatible with Vista!  Go to this website and get the windows vista driver for it.  Install it and your printer should work.  Please rate!
