There was a recall on these units for the antenna. Unplug the antenna on your windshield, let it sit for 5 minutes then plug it back in. You will need to contact your authorized dealer to replace it under warranty if you are the original owner of the system.

FORD KEY PADS
  • Enter permanent factory code
  • Press the 1/2 button within 5 seconds to enter programming mode
  • Within 5 seconds enter new code, doors will lock, unlock to verify code, this erases previous codes remotes will also need to be programmed. (MAYBE)
KEY PADS/REMOTES
  • Insert key, turn ignition off-to- on eight times in succession, ending with key in on position doors will lock, unlock to verify in programming mode
  • Press any button on new remote, doors will lock, unlock to verify
  • Do the previous step with the second remote, doors will lock unlock to verify.
  • Turn ignition off. Doors will again lock, unlock to verify.

Keyless Entry System Circuit Description
The Power Door Locks/Remote Keyless Entry control system provides several functions. The driver operates the vehicle door locks and rear window release from outside the vehicle using a hand-held radio transmitter. The transmitter sends coded signals to the remote control door lock receiver. The remote control door lock receiver detects and decodes the signal from the transmitter. The remote control door lock receiver issues signals to the body control module (BCM) through a serial data link. The BCM actuates relays to lock and unlock the doors and liftgate. The BCM can also release the liftglass. The power door lock switches provide manual control of the door locks.


Transmitter Programming
Important: Different keyless entry systems are used on General Motors vehicles. The parts are not interchangeable even though the parts may appear to be similar. Observe the back of the transmitter in order to properly identify the system. On 1998 S/T pickups and utilities, use a transmitter identified with GM/UTA preceding the part number.
With the driver door closed, hold down the power unlock button on the door panel.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Release the power unlock button on the door panel.
The remote control door lock receiver will respond in the following manner in order to indicate that the receiver is in the programming mode:
6.1. Locking the doors
6.2. Unlocking the doors
Important: All extra transmitters must be programmed at this time. When a new transmitter is programmed, it will deactivate the old transmitters.
Hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter until the remote control door lock receiver will respond in the following manner:
7.1. Locking the doors.
7.2. Unlocking the doors.
Repeat step 7 for each additional transmitter.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.

I am assuming this is the factory key fob.
Read all instructions before attempting.

My windstar dosent unlock all doors while using the remote


more than likely the power door locks on the doors that won't lock are messing up or you reciever for the remote is going bad and not sending power to them doors. try and lock the doors from the drivers door and see if they all lock if they do then it's the remote reciever if they don't then it could be the door locks on the doors them selfs

The remote unlock for my 2000 Jetta no longer works on the driver door. It unlocks the other doors and pops the trunk. Is it the lock? I have to use the key to unlock the drivers door.


First thing to do is check for a burned out fuse. If that is not the problem, then check for a defective relay. A lot of newer cars, including VW's, use relays for several things, including the power door locks. If you have the owners manual, the location of the fuse and relay box should be in there. If not, try to find a repair manual, or an on-line repair manual such as All-data or Mitchell on-line. If the problem is not the relay, then the problem is either going to be in the control module that recieves the signal from your remote and sends the command to lock or unlock your doors, an open in the wiring, or both lock solenoids went bad on you. As a reminder, always use caution when working on electrical systems, ans accidently shorting out something could cause a lot of other problems.

Drivers power lock will not unlock with remote.


the door lock actuator is defective, they get really hard to move when they go bad, that is why the difficulty with the key.

Key Pad Entry does not work


does the key pad light when you press a button at night? If yes, the fuse is ok.
Do you have the plastic card with the permanent code in your owner manual packet? If yes, tryit.

Keyless Entry The keyless entry keypad is hardwired to the GEM. The GEM interprets the inputs from the keyless entry keypad and then controls the associated operation. The keyless entry keypad will be illuminated for five seconds when any button is pressed. Additionally, it will request the illuminated entry feature to turn the courtesy lamps on. If a lock all doors code is entered, the illumination will turn off, as well as request the illuminated entry feature to turn off the courtesy lamps. When pressed, the keyless entry keypad supplies the ground signal to the GEM or the GEM receives a signal from the keyless entry remote transmitter. Then the GEM outputs a ground signal to the appropriate lock or unlock relay which supplies the power to the actuator to lock or unlocks all doors, including the luggage compartment. The keyless entry remote transmitter also unlocks the liftgate or activates the panic alarm by sending a signal to the GEM.

Garage door only opens with wall unit


a component in the wall unit is failing , that makes the conection happen when the remote signal is recieved , ( it is recieving the remote signal but not sending it out to the control circuit for the motor )
