Question about Acer ASPIRE T180-UA381B DESKTOP PC

2 Answers

I want to make mp3's from my record albums and my friend told me it would be better if I had a "line in" instead of using the microphone input. I didn't get a manual and can't easily see the rear of my computer I was hoping to find a manual with a diagram of the rear of the tower. Mine is an Acer Aspire AST180-UA381B thanks Charles

The blue is the "line in" and has will amplify better than the pink "microphone in" port. And the one left if the green "speaker out".

You can use either the line in or microphone input, as long as the levels are adjusted for volume input to minimize distortion in the sound.

The speaker symbol should be clicked on on the lower bar of Windows 7 to see the graphic equalizer in windows for each input of the sound card. Other versions of windows also have a speaker symbol down below on the right, I think.

The input levels of the left and right microphones are highly inequal, what can I do?

perhaps the left speaker is damaged
what i would do is load a known mp3 too the sdcard
and play it back on your unit

if its aok level wise
then the left mic has an issue
try an external input too the left mic
if it again records bad there is an issue with the input amp and alc circuit
if it records ok chances are the left electret mic has failed and will need replaced out usually these small mics have an amp built in then this output goes at line level to the input switched between line level in mic in or internal mic in as a mix....

Does anybody know how to fix built-in microphones on rolland BR-600. When I attempt to record, the only sound that gets recorded is noice (hissing sound), and that only after cranking rec volume and mic...

Most of these have a SETTING in the menus that selects the source from different mics and/or line inputs. If the setting is to the line input instead of mic, and no audio is connected to the line input it will act like you described.

How do i convert my itunes songs(mp3 format) to the wav format

I;m ahving this same problem myself. After spending the last six months recording my album and remixing again and again, I finally registered with CDbaby and their upload page is not reading my songs from my usb storage card. Never had this problem before. Every mix Ive burned down and added to the media player on my main computer, converted to the flash drive numerous times and was always able to send songs to friends via email, and onto my myspace. But for some reason CDbaby wont read my songs. ??? and the media player on my mini laptop won't sync from te flaash card either. I dont know what the hell the problem is, but numerous aggravcasions over thge last 6 months have stemmed from mastering issues on the Tascam. An ex rooommate had sonic foundry which I must say produced better sound results and less conversion issues

My microphone only records on one side. how to i do fi it so both lines records instead of just rhe top one?

Your microphone could be a mono or single channel pickup. Look at the microphone plug and count the isolators between the metal contacts, if you count one isolator and two contacts you have a mono microphone, or if you have two insulators and three contacts you have a stereo microphone. If your computer only has a mono microphone input you may have to use your line in on your computer. If your volume is weak and you get noise on your channel you may be required to use a microphone pre amp and plug the output into the line in jack. Last make sure your computer speaker mixer is set correctly for stereo.

Headet and desktop microphone problem.

first check if you have the right drivers on your computer for your audio, if you have audio like mine go to realtek audio manager it should be right beside the clock, then click on the top right corner it says device advanced settings it opens another box that gives you options for recording like tie up same type of input jacks, ie. line-in or microphone,as an input device. and it has another one separate all input jacks as independent input devices you could try one of those if you have realtek audio manager theres other options to that might help and if you dont have that go to recording devices and see if your mic is working properly and if its set to default device

How to record audio using microphone input

What is the Make / Model of your Laptop? Depending on this, there may be an internal Microphone built into your computer you could use. If not, I can also show you how to specify windows use the "Microphone" as the input device.

Typically Laptops have 2 input selections "Line Input" and "Mic"

Line input is for use when you want to say.. Hook your ipod up to your laptop.

Microphone is a little different, as the input looks like the same as the other Line Input place, however the Microphone port provides power to whatever is plugged into it, which will cause problems if you plug anything other then a microphone into it.

And vice versa, if you plug a microphone into the "Line In" port, the microphone will not work, because the "Line In" port does not send out power to the microphone. Inside Windows Audio if you click 'Options' then properties, click on the recording tab, after this, make sure all the available check boxes ARE checked. Click OK. Then Find the MicroPhone Slider bar, Make sure it is towards the top, and also the checkbox marked "select" is checked. Then go back to Options - Properties - Click Playback, and ok.

Any other information you could provide will make for a better solution I will follow up on.

Intructions for recording Mic or Line In and SAVING to PC

Hi

Recording is quite easy:

1. To record from the Mic, simply press the button on the side of the player with the red dot and speak into the mic - its the small hole at the top left of the player.

2. To record line-in: connect the small mini stereo jack to the player and the other end to the line or headphone output of a recording device. Use the menu to find 'line in recording' (its towards the bottom of the menu). Monitor the input signal and adjust its level using the VU meters on the V Plus. Using the volume control on your player device, ensure that the signal is not too loud so that it clips, nor too soft (it will be noisy). When ready, press the red dot button. Press it again to stop recording.

3. To find the recordings and transfer files to PC: using the Zen Explorer, find the folder 'Recordings' on the Zen. Your recordings will be stored there with file names such as "Line In {date, time}.wma". Simply copy and paste these files onto your PC and play them with Winamp or Windows Media Player. Note that they are in WMA format, not MP3 format, but that this is a better standard than MP3 and can be played on most MP3 players.

Hope this has helped, and now can someone help me - my Zen V Plus screen is dead, and I didnt' even drop it.

Recording problem

As the built-in mic is probably the weak link I would suggest getting a external one with a built-in preamp and output control. Or a separate preamp with microphone. If you want to make good quality recordings using the highest sampling rates you should go for a better microphone.
