How do I remove the soda bottle cap, from the drive shaft end of a 2004 Saturn Vue V6 AWD, in order to remove the yoke, when replacing the carrier bearing.

Can you post a picture of this "bottle cap".. I think you are just seeing the splines (they can kinda resemble the rough crimpings' that a bottle cap has...
There should be nothing on top / on the end of the Midship splined stub shaft... You remove the hog-ring, and press the yoke off/over the spline. the spline and end yoke have a "dead spot" - which makes you keep the driveshaft in-phase during reassembly.. the dead spot is 2 splines that have been joined together at the end.. the end yoke will have a spline removed to accommodate this...
PS - soak the end yoke and spline liberally with PB Blaster.. Walk away..the longer the better... Then attempt to remove.. Good Luck!

I own a 2003 proton jumbuck ute and want to replace drive shafts, the outer wheel end not a problem but need to know what I have to do to release drive shafts from gearbox end. thank you for your time

most cv axles or held in the gear box /diff by a round sectioned circlip at the end of the splines in the diff
once you have the axle free of the hub and bearings use a heavy hammer on the back side of the cv joint or a heavy slide hammer attached to the end of the axle
you have to compress that circlip so that it allows the axles to slide out

How do I replace the upper drive shaft on a Ryobi RBC430SEC brushcutter?

I couldn't find this model on google, but when replacing drive shafts in most brushcutters we used to slide the cutting head / gear assembly off the bottom of the shaft, remove the circlip holding the drive shaft if there was one, slide out the shaft from its square hole in the clutch at the motor end. If the shaft was broken we'd slide the motor part off the shaft to get the broken part of the shaft out.

02 Suzuki ozark 250- rear wheels don't turn,tranny

Okay first your other responses are completly illiterate ok if the drive shaft is spinning that means the motors running for all of you other answerers that means gas is going through the carb into the engine and it's working perfectly fine. Now to answer your question if the rear wheels aren't spinning you probably have the same problem I'm having with mine at the moment you've drivien it too hard and the gears on the bottom end of your drive shaft aren't warn but inside the bell housing of your rear end where the drive ahft enters the gears are so worn you can't feel them in that case you would disconnect all of your sub frame conecters and the back shock then your rear end will come away from the four wheeler check the gears I told you about and if they are worn go buy new ones. Problem solved

Are you talking about the shifter lever that sits in the splined area on the shaft? If yes then replace the nut and bolt with quality stainless steel and remember to use some lok-tite on that puppy. Also rmember to clean the splined areas on both the shaft and the lever. The lever splines may be goobered up and need to be filed clean or you may need to pick up a new shifter lever.

460 with a C6 trans & a 8.8 rear end how long of drive shaft do I need center to center of front & back Ujoint

This isn't something that should be advised on line.

You might need a 2 piece drive shaft with a carrier bearing, or a single piece might work.

You'll need to take into consideration the length of the spline (either @ the tail shaft of the transmission or @ the carrier bearing) to make sure there is sufficient spline length to allow for the lengthening and shortening of the overall length as the rear axle moves up and down with the increase or decrease in spring loading. Also need to be aware (on a vertical plane) of the relative parallelism of the transmission output shaft and the differential input shaft.

This one can bite you big time if you don't do all your homework!

In any event, you'll probably be better of if you engage the services of a professional drive line shop in your area.

Good luck!

How do i change 2004 toyota tundra rear end drive shaft

1st, with th E brake on and the wheels chocked. Remove the 4 bolts that connect the shaft to the
rear end flange and pull(or pry if required)away from the rear end. Next pull the shaft back toward the rear off of the front spline. You may have to remove the seal from the from the front of the shaft
at the spline to pull the shaft all the way off. Somtimes the grease on the spline creates a vacum
that makes it tough to remove. When you install the shaft there are marks or notch's on the shaft
and rear end flanges to line up as well as the spline+yoke. But an old rule of thumb is make sure
that the U joints are all in line, so if one shaft is at 12:00 ( I ) the other must be at 12:00 also.
Once the shafts are lined up, line up the marks on the flanges and bolt it up.
Hope this helps.

The trimmer head stopped turning What could be wrong

here is web site for parts

http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=husqvarna&mn=225+L+%281994-06%29

almost sounds like the driving drum engagement end has rounded off or the end of drive shaft broke off at either end , or the gear head end is broken / damaged

have a look at the splines on the output shaft on the gear head , check the plate that engages those splines too

physicaly take off the tube / shaft assy from power head and check drum and clutch rotating , check drive shaft end (s)

if ok refit tube / shaft assy ( make sure engaged properly)
tighten mount bolts - remove gear head from end of shaft, start motor and run see if shaft turns ok with some rev s if so
problem is in the gear head

check out website good site

cheers paul hope it helps

I have a 85 gl 1200 I i removed the rear wheel to replace the tire and rear brakes. I removed the differential and drive shaft for inspection and can't get the shaft back in the u-joint do I need to...

Try this: Slide back the rubber boot that goes between the back of the engine and the swing arm. Do this by slipping the front edge of the boot off of the collar on the back of the engine. Now you can get a screwdriver - or your fingers in there to help hold the end of the u-joint up and align it with the end of the drive shaft. The end of the shaft - and the u-joint - have splines that must match up before they will slide together, requiring that you rotate the drive shaft as you insert it. Be sure to apply grease to the splines before assembly. When you are done, use a small flat-blade screwdriver to carefully re-attach the rubber boot the the back of the engine.
Tip: Assemble the final drive unit to the swing arm, but do not tighten the four nuts until after the rear wheel is in place and the axle nut tightened. This will help ensure proper alignment of the final drive assembly and the splined joint that attaches it to the rear end of the drive shaft. Also, make absolutely certain that grease is applied to the splines in the rear wheel hub where it meets the final drive output splines. Failure to grease this section will cause premature failure of the splines.
