Do you have the switch upside down?

Come on ... seriously???? Of course not.

I figured it out. On the 4 way switch the common wires that go on the same screw were reversed with the other two wires. so everything turned on and off at all locations fine and still dim and rise, but on the 4 way the dimming was reversed. All works correctlt now that I switched the two pairs of wires on the 4 way.

Why doesn't the display change when I press the dimmer button

Dimmer may have been damaged from a power surge or excessive electrical power source. Could be expensive to repair, and be prepared if you need to have it serviced.

I have a Maestro dimmer on 2 20 w hallogen bulbs and the dimmer when turn off or on dims the lights rapidlyup and down.

When you say "halogen bulbs," are you referring to MR-16 (12-Volt) lamps off a transformer, or line-voltage halogen lamps. If using the MR-16s, then the fixture doesn't qualify as "incandescent" which is what the dimmer you have is rated for, and the behavior of the transformers within the fixture can cause the types of issues you're seeing. If it is a line-voltage (120-volt) halogen then, then it could be a number of things depending upon how "rapidly" and frequent the "up and down" is. Regardless, call Lutron's tech support number at 1-800-523-9466. They're available 24/7, they won't charge you, and they can help you sort this out.

I have 3 hanging kitchen lights over the sink on the Lutron dimmer - 2 issues - The lights dim all by themselves and know one of the pendent lights is always burining the bulb out within a few weeks of use...

To separate any wiring problem from dimmer problems, temporarily replace the dimmer with a regular switch. Use it that way for few weeks if necessary. If it works normally with the switch, you need a new dimmer.

I've had several MA-600 tap panels that stopped working, causing me to replace the unit. Is this a common failure mode ? Are there more robust models available for multi-control dimming ?

It would be helpful if you clarified what "stopped working" means. Regardless, their tech support center at 1-800-523-9466 can help you figure out why its happening, is available 24/7, and will more than likely replace the units for you.

Here's a link to an article that explains the wiring. If you've followed the guidelines, then maybe you have a faulty dimmer.

In general practice, you can only install ONE 3-way dimmer switch to control the lights. If you use two regular 3-way dimmer switches, the circuit won't work.

However, newer technology allows for double 3-way dimming from different locations. See this article about how to do this:

Dimmer doesn't turn off! Right after I installed a Lutron electronic dimmer switch, it worked fine. After about a week, it wouldn't turn the lights off. The lights just dim to a low level at the lowest...

There is one more thing that you can try, turn the power off from the breaker and wait about 20 seconds, then turn back on. If that doesn't fix it you are probably right about the dimmer being bum. It is very rare that Lutron devices are defective. You can contact them directly and see if you can get it replaced since you no longer have the receipt. You may have to send it to them before they will send you a replacement but it beats spending another $50

I have had the Maestro Dimmer 3 ways installed for about a year. Just yesterday we lost power a couple times and now they don't work. Any ideas?

Your dimmers took a voltage spike when the power came back on after the more recent power loss and it caused the electronics in them, to fail. You'll need to replace them, which you should be able to do yourself with replacements. Just be sure to turn off the circuit breakers that those dimmers are on.

You can buy/use an inexpensive voltage detector to verify that power is off. If you get the same brand/style dimmers, you can just swap them over wire-for-wire and you should have everything working again.

The problem with the newer electronic dimmers is that they are more susceptible to voltage irregularities versus the old rheostat based types. The electronic dimmers have many advantages over rheostat dimmers, in that they acually save energy whereas rheostat dimmers only dimmed the light, but consumed the maximum wattage and used the same energy whether fully bright or at the dimmest setting. Rheostat dimmers also ran extremely hot, as they shed the excessive wattage not going to the light, as heat.

Hope you found this Very Helpful and best regards!
