My daughter's Kitchenaid Artisan 325 watt mixer had a malfunction last night. The unit itself is less than 3 years old. It had been running on high for approximately 5 minutes when sparks began to fly and the circuit breaker tripped. They said that sparks were coming out of the back of the mixer, but there is no evidence to support this. There was evidence of burning on the prongs of the electrical cord. They shut the machine off, re-set the breaker, plugged the machine back into the outlet, and it sparked again and tripped the breaker..

What is the difference between the Kitchen Aid "KSM150PSMC" and the KSM150 ?? thanks

Hi,

The KSM150 is the line of mixers with similar features. It is in the Artisan series, tilt head, 325 watts. All mixers in the KSM150 line have the same features.
The one that you asked about, the KSM150PSMC is done in metallic chrome.

I have a KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer (325 watts/model KSM150), about 5 years old. Lately, when mixing dough for bread or cookies, the motor head of the machine wobbles a bit from side to side. In...

the solution to this is to tighten the screw visible through the base that intersects the pin. Turn the machine upside down and using a long flat screwdriver tighten the screw.

My 325 Watt Artisan mixer's adapter won't come off? How do I get it unstuck?

To remove the mixer attachment I belive you must press up on the attachment to lock the inside gear into place. Once it is locked into position you can now twist to the left to remove the attachment. once removed you can pull the shaft back down to unlock the gear.Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Mixer switch is locked

If this is a 325 watt Artisan, there is no safety switch I know of unless its in the circuit board. Your mixer is broke.

The pasta/meat grinder attachment stops turning

Its a 325 watt mixer. If you grind or mix dough often you may consider getting something stronger or turn it off every ten minutes or so and let it cool down. We burned a 325 and got the 575 watt "600" series and no problems ever since. I know these things are expensive. The 325 is more mixer than grinder. The attachements fit ANY size mixer but some are not recommended for use in all mixers.
If its quiting see my posts on "doesn't run at sitr" and "Removing the motor cover" To get inside and clean those contacts.
