If you are that worried, permenantly delete the printer .. with a hammer.
If you have onboard memory on the printer, it is quite easy to recover data from it, even if you where able to reformat it.
Even hard drives that have been formatted can get the data recovered quite easily

When you see the message Permanent storage init displayed release the buttons.
