Question about Acer Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an X241W monitor that after being turned on, has to warm up for about 10 minutes after being turned on, at which time I have to turn it back off and then back on again in order to see the "ACER" logo appear on the screen, which is part of the usual start up process. Any idea what is necessitating this involved start up process?

My X241w until recently required about 10 or more power ups before it would stay on without shutting itself off. As I was getting ready to replace it I tried setting the resolution to 1980x1080 in...

It may have a lot of dying caps as shown in my pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/ACER%20X241W/

More damage will be done if the caps get real bad.
The size of this monitor is big but I find the picture quality is not too good.

Monitor needs a long warm up time before ready to use. computer turns it on but it blinks off. after about 10 to 15 minutes the monitor will stay on.

Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

Dim monitar with flickering screen

Hello,

The problem can be caused by 1 of 2 things either your power supply is going out or the backlight bulbs are going out. The most likely cause is the power supply. If you are willing to do a little soldering you should be able to do the repair. If you go to our web site at: www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm We have a section on monitor repair. Look under the Samsung 930B it is the same as your monitor.
If you don't want to do it yourself we do offer a repair service, email me if you are in need of that.

I hope this helps.

It turns off after 10 minutes working

When you say it turns off, is the power light going out too?

If the power light is still lit when the screen blanks, it may be a faulty backlight inverter.

After 10 minutes elapse and the screen goes out, if you power it back on, do you get another 10 min, or does it last a much shorter time period, or not at all?

Your best bet is probably simply to buy a new monitor, and sell yours as "broken" on eBay, I'm sure someone out there capable of fixing it would be willing to pay pennies on the dollar to subsidize your replacement screen.

Monitor comes up shows "acer" then says no signal and goes black

This Problem is Acer(s) Monitors. Though it is a nuisance one fix That has work for many is the Unplugging after it goes back to Good (viewable) screen.
I have hooked mine up to an inexpensive Power strip to make it easier for me and just turn off at time indicated above and Viola Simple is as Simple does :)

Sony hmd-a400 monitor

Next time you get it running, right click my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager and look for your monitor on the 'Monitors' '+' sign and right click>delete. Also check 'Display adapter' see if the correct driver is displayed. Re- boot and let Windows re-install monitor driver(it should list it as 'Sony')
