Where does charger plug in? Thx - Dell Inspiron 2650 Notebook

hi , Sounds like the connection from the batteries to the controller is faulty , the controller is being powered by the charger( repeated use of this will damage the controller & charger so be warned )... check the battery input to the controller has a voltage, you will need a meter , smart meter , anything that gives a volts reading ...

Hi,
Remove the battery and plug in the AC adapter. If you can not power on the laptop, your AC adapter has gone bad on you and will need to be replaced.

If it will turn on with the AC adapter, place the battery while the laptop is on. See if it registers the battery as charging in the task bar. If not, there may be something wrong with the battery or the components connecting to the battery within the laptop.
Also you can below steps to check:
1) take the battery out of your laptop and the laptop charger
2) plug your laptop charger in your laptop without the battery in it,
3) Try to turn it on the normal way:
If it turns on, then your battery has gone, (Its drained and run out of use like all batteries do)
if it stays off then its a charger problem
You would want to hope its a charger problem as they are cheap and easily replaceable

I guess its a charger problem because its not turning on and the laptop automatically would use the charger as a main power supply if the battery doesn't work
and oh by the way
If the battery isn't in it, your laptop will act as a pc whereas if you plug the charger in it will work, but if you take it out while the laptop is on then it will go off instantly without a successful shutdown which could mean a loss of work

hi Rebecca, what are the symptoms of it not charging??? . does the light flash for a second then turn off. How about if you move/wiggle the charger where it plugs into console??

You will need an adaptor of at least the same output in both voltage and power. The only level that MUST be the same is the voltage. The power level must be the same or higher.

is the laptop charging? if is not most likely the battery shorted out, try removing the battery and connecting the charger see if the computer boots up if it does then you have to replace the battery if it does not then the short is in the computer.
the other problem can be incorrect charger but if it is the original try previous.

Are you using the original charger or another. The Dell power system will give this message when you use a 70W charger on a system that needs a 90W charger - check the sticker on the back. Also, if the plug to the main board gets just a little loose you will get this message. Be careful you are not putting too much strain at the power plug or you will need a repair soon!

There are larger capacity baterys avalable.
I saw several different size baterys reported to fit the 3600 on the web.

I am currently looking for a parts doner 3600. If you want to part with yours.

I have the same problem. Worked for 3 years and now the battery charges to green but goes dead immediately. I've changed batteries. Its the camera not the batteries. Works fine plugged in. Obviously the cameras are not charging the batteries. Canon must know but I cannot find a fix and warranty is over. I guess buying the expensive camera of the day isnt always assuring you of quality.
