Problem with the Dell Latitude D600 PC Notebook Laptop can't find hard drive

Hi carcess... Go to the following webpages and you will locate your hard drive on your Dell D600. How to replace the hdd Please take time to rate me You will start by turning the laptop over and now you will be looking at the bottom of the laptop.
  1. Removal of the Hard Drive...Remove the battery. (look at the big plastic covers, and under the cover is the laptop hard drive, others contain memory, etc).

  2. Close out any active programs and turn off the laptop.

  3. Unplug the power cord and disconnect it from the computer.

  4. Wait approximatly twenty seconds, then turn off any printers,or other devices and disconnect them.

  5. Unplug any remaining cables. Remove any installed PC cards. Close the laptop and turn it over; align the front edge of the laptop so that it is facing you.

  6. Locate the battery-bay release latch on the lower left side of the laptop. Slide the latch toward the edge of the laptop and hold it in place while you remove the battery.

  7. Locate and remove the screw that secures the hard drive on the lower-right side of the laptop. Turn the laptop over and open the display slightly (approximately half an inch). Slide the old hard drive out of its bay and insert the replacement drive in its place. Once the hard drive is fully seated, close the display and turn the laptop over. Insert and tighten the screw that secures the hard drive.

  8. Return the battery to the battery bay. Press it into place until you feel the release latch click.

  9. Reconnect all previously-disconnected cables and printer, etc or other devices.

  10. Reinsert any previously-removed PC cards.

  11. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet and reconnect it to the computer.

I have a Dell Latitude D600 laptop. Every time I turn it on, it says that the primary hard disk cannot be found. It is long past its warranty. Solutions?

There's no way you can fix a hard drive unless you're a professional who deals with at on the regular .... Other then that ...what you need is a new hard drive....

My dell laptop .. latitude d600 "ic" has been melted...i want to know the ic number??

The "melted" IC - this has shorted out, and something has cause this to happen, even if you replaced it, it could short out the new IC unless you identify the cause.
The D600 is an old laptop, it would be better to put your money towards a new laptop.
You could remove the hard drive and put it into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an USB external hard drive..

How to find the part number of HDD 20 GB of Latitude D600?

Dell is very good at supplying part numbers on their home page. One of the ways to find it is do a yahoo search for dell latitude d600 parts.. This should bring you lots of info on d600. From there you can find a Dell parts supplier. here is a link from the search I did: http://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=category&id=140&subid=117&refine=hard drive

Please note. You wont find a Dell hard drive. They use Western Digital and other brands. Most any hard drive brand will work.

Dell Latitude D600

It is the Hard drive on the system. Hard Drive is failing. Another Error code for the Hard Drive is Error Code 7. Check BIOS setup if the system still detects the Hard Drive as well. You may want to consider changing the Hard Drive on the system.

Dell latitude d600 doesn't turn on

The test Dell advises to narrow down this issue is to remove the battery, hard drive, ram, and optical drive.  Next plug in the a/c power cord and you should get some LED's coming on. If not it points to the motherboard.

Dell d600 latitude laptop

Hi

Dell Latitude D600 can only accommodate one internal hard drive. You can however install a 2nd Hard Drive as a drive module.

Check the picture below. The HDD Drive Module fits in in place of the CD/DVD Drive.

Let me know if further is needed.
