Check the device manager to see if it is showing there with an error - it could be either hardware or driver related. If hardware, obviously that is a different matter. But if it's a driver issue, it may be easiest to use a site that will scan your system and determine the updates needed. Three available sites: driveragent.com, drivers.com, and drivershq.com. You may find this more helpful. Thanks for rating FixYa!

Is the ethernet adapter on the mother board built-in? If not you need to get the drivers of that adapter. If its it, then use the mother boards cd to loacte the drivers of the ethernet adapter.

I'm not sure I understand your question; are you asking us to help you do something ILLEGAL? No one at FIXYA is going to help you become a software pirate. You'll have to purchase a GENUINE copy of Windows XP to get a valid keycode.

First try the manufacturer of your computer. However, there are many makers that didn't bother with pre-Vista drivers.

I reinstalled Windows XP to my computer and now i cant get the internet. There is a yellow question mark and exlmation point next to Ethernet Controller and it has a code 28 error.

You should have had 2 cds that came with your computer. The 2nd one has all the drivers on it. Install the drivers and your problem will go away.

Installed some new ram now audio bus and ethernet

What kind of system are you on? Some older computers BIOS will not support more than 1 or 2 gb ram. Check the specifications of your motherboard to ensure your BIOS can see that memory.

Crashing during Windows Setup

Check out any hardware that doesnot supports windows xp. remove that and reload the os. it works. or remove all the additional addon cards like modem, network card, printers etc., (just maintain only hard disk, cd rom and floppy drive)then install the os. once os installs add the components one by one to so that the os will detect one by one cheers!
