The reason why your experiencing that problem was the cordless phone and the router that youre using has the same 2.4Gz frequency. So everytime the phone rings it interupts the wireless signal what i can suggest is if the phone is in between the computer and the router or if the phone is near the router move it away so that it wont interfere the wireless signal

Thanks for using Fixya.

I have a belkin router, cordless phone interferce

cordless phones and wireless routers transmit on the same frequency. Move the router away from the cordless phone if it's near, if not try changing the channel on your belkin router

Now if your WIRELESS connection drops, when the phone rings it's usually because of this:

You have a cordless phone in your house that is using the same channel as your wireless router. Now routers are generally quite different so there's no one way to fix this. Just look up your make and model of modem on Google and find out how to change the channel on your modem. It's pretty straight forward and not very time consuming to fix.
Also one thing to note is that you shouldn't automatically jump to the highest channel that you can because your wireless card may not be able to go that high.

My internet goes down randomly. I don't know if it my modem or my provider. Any suggestions? I am using an Efficient Networks Speedstream 5100 modem and an D-Link WBR 1310 wireless router.

Are you using wired ports on the router or wireless?
If you are using wireless, do you have a cordless phone nearby and does the use of it coincide with the loss of internet? Have you tried switching to a wired connection for a short while to see if you are having the same problem? Could be intereference issues with your wireless signal. When you look at the available wireless networks, are there more than one? Could be that your PC/laptop is trying to connect to someone else's wireless if their signal strength is stronger.
If you are using a wired connection on the wireless router and still losing connectivity, try a network connection monitoring tool such as WhatsUpGold (free to try). Have it set up to monitor your PC's gateway address (which should be your wireless router) and some other internet site (Google, Yahoo, etc). If your router connection never drops, but the internet site does, good chance that it's your provider.
Make sure you have the latest drivers for your network device (wired or wireless) and the latest version of firmware for your D-Link. Buggy drivers and firmware can definitely cause flakiness.

Phone trying to connect to the base but cannot

You possibly have a Mhz signal conflict with another appliance in your home or in another 'apartment' if you live in a complex.  If not, there is a similar or identical signal (with the same Mhz listed on your phone in your home from another appliance trying to use the same frequency) interfering, like a router or router/modem for wireless internet.  I had a similar problem when I had a wireless home phone not connecting to the base and would not call, stay connected or code right with the base.  I used a Linksys router to connect to an AT&T modem and nothing matched. Until I got AT&T to upgrade me to their "2wire" router/modem combination built in and my wireless internet problem was solved.  But, the V-Tech phone lost it's ability to connect or operate properly after that, even with a new battery.  We scrapped the wireless base and phone and now stay wired, also an option.

DSL loses signal during VOIP call.

hi,

i worked for verizon for two years and I encounter this problem many times,to tell you honestly, its not with you internet connection since if you'll notice, while you are connected to the internet and you make a call or call someone, its interrupted... Obviously, its the phone itslelf, the signal comng from the phone is different from the signal of the internet...thats the reason why you need a modem to convert the signal coming from the phone line to make it work for internet,,,what I suggest is you change the DSL plan from the Dry Loop to the regular dsl with the phone...

thanks and God Bless

Internet connection dies when phone rings

There are a number of tests you can perform to find the problem unhook all the phones in your house and then call to see if it still does it. If it doesnt it may be one of your phones. If it does check the wiring in the jacks and make sure the wires are not backwards in any of them. If they all appear to be fine there maybe a problem at the pole or box whichever the company has installed in your neighborhood. Once you have determined that none of the above is present its not your fault and the providing internet company should not charge you to come out and check the outside lines. It can be as simple as a little short in the wire especially if its underground.

You may also wanna locate the phone box on the outside of your home and see if it disconnects when connected to there.

The box Outside Should Look Like This

And You'll Need To Disconnect All Of The Lines From These Plugs And Then Plug Your Internet Directly Into One Of Them. This Will Disconnect All The Phone Lines In The House. Now Place A Call To Your Home Via Cell Phone Or Have A Friend Call And If It Doesn't Disconnect Your Internet The Problem Is In The House.
If It Still Does Its The Phone Company's Problem And You'll Need To Call Them To Fix The Problem.

If This Does Not %100 Solve Your Problem Let me Know And I Will Continue Further Trouble Shooting With You.

Need help

You are losing your internet connection because of interference with the wireless router and cordless phone. Try either switching the channel on your router or on your phone. That should fix your problem.

Losing connection with WGR614 v6 router

Well, glad I found someone with the same problem, the answer will certianly surprise you.
The answer is cordless phones and satellite interent.
if you have cordless phones and/or satellite internet it will lose signal.
They run on the same frequency.
To fix it log into your router, goto wireless settings, then check the box for enable channel settings. You may have to reboot the router and PC.
Should help.
Good luck and have a happy new year.
