As the doors are set at the factory, the easiest way is to put spacers under the feet, to square up the unit.... that is, if you dont have adjustable feet fitted.....

GE side by side doors are not alligned

here is a diagram of the doors and the hinge area. Without seeing myself I can only gusess.

you box could be twiked or not level. The hinge at the bottom could be bent. There top hinge sometimes can have an ajustment that moves the top of the door left and right wich will raise the door a littel. to see if this has an ajustment you will need to remove the top cover of the top hinge and loosen the bolts a little and move the door left and right, if it does have someone hold the door where you want and tighten.

How do we adjust the door height on our GE Profile Side by Side frig, Model TPX24BPZC...it has slipped down and the trim kit keeps rubbing on the lower edge where the door hinges....????

Hello, Take the cover off the top hinge and then remove the top hinge and the door, the problem may be a worn hinge cam, if it is replace it. If the hinge is loose tighten the bolts. Once the door is off you will see how the lower hinge can be adjusted. Hope this helps! Mike

How do you adjust the doors to closed completely?

The lower hinge on each door may have a door closing cam. It raises the door up ¼ inch when opening and this assist in closing the door. If it’s wore out and doesn’t work the door may not seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if it rises up when opened.

Leave the door shut and let the magnetic gasket hold the door in place. Put something between the bottom of the door and the floor to hold it in case it slips.
Remove the bracket holding the pin and hinge assembly taking note of order of removal of parts. Slide new cams on. You probably need two.

the control board is famous for not working --first check that the lights in the frige are shutting off when you shutb the door are the doors at the same height or is the frige door 1/4 to a 1/2 lower if so the door can be raised back by screwing the cam back at the bottom hinge

Side by side doors uneven at top

Hi Carol,

Interestingly enough, I answered a similar question just the other day. Maybe there's an outbreak of lazy factory technicians who "forget" to tighten the hinge brackets? Hmmmm. Makes on wonder...

Anyway, it's easy... The door alignment adjustment is done at the top hinge. Pull up a step-stool, then remove the hinge cover. Under there you'll see three screws, I think they're 5/16". Loosen these (since your door has dropped, they're probably already loose), then lift up on the door handle to align it with the other door... while keeping the door aligned, tighten the hinge screws (and put alot of torque on 'em to keep 'em from loosening in the future). Now just replace the hinge cover and your done!

(pssst!... don't forget to rate me, will ya? C'mon, throw me some love.)

Something to check for. Is the top of the refrigerator door lower than the freezer door? If so the ref. light may not be turning off all the time. Pull bottom panel off to expose hinges. The ref hinge should have an adjuster. Adjust door up to be level with freezer.
