Question about Boating
Something seems to be slipping in the lower unit
If you have a spare prop try it. The prophub of your current prop may have a bad Rubber bushing. There are some OMC units which have a 2 piece design that still has the Rubber bushing but the prop is a separate piece and the inner hub is sold separately.
Most Mercs have the Rubber hub as part of the prop. The Rubber hub in any case is taking the place of a shearpin. The Rubber starts to slip or crumble and then you can't go anymore. Sometimes the damage is visible but only sometimes.
For the 1 piece system the Hub needs to have a new Rubber bushing installed at a Prop shop. With luck, the prop is your only problem.
