Ice forming on the outside of a door is a sure sign that the door seals are not air tight(flat against the body)use a hot cloth to mould the seals to fit......

There is ice forming on the inside back wall of the freezer. What does this mean? Would it cause the refrigerator alarm (beeping noise) to go off?

It usually means that your door is either not closing properly or the seal is deformed. Moist air is getting in and condenses on the coldest surface at the back of the freezer. Check that the freezer is not too full (stopping door from closing fully) and check the door-seal.

Sometimes it is caused by icing of the thermostat. Ice is a good thermal insulator so the thermostat does not switch and the freezer keeps running constantly. Make sure there is adequate air circulation and no ice around the thermostat.

Defrosting usually fixes either problem.

Our maytag refridg is freezing the contents. thermostat set to 40 degrees. Any other suggestions to try to fix this?

Does this model have seperate controls for top and bottom? No?
Make sure checking inside the refrigerator compartment, that the air passageways are not blocked by tall or plastic covered objects. They will block air circulation and cause the automatic controls to detect temperature incorrectly. That being said, also check the door to see if it is sealing correctly. A bad seal will cause warm air to be drawn in, excessive ice may form behind the panel in the back from humidity and you may experience the opposite problem, not enough cooling in some areas and excessive in others.
Does the machine also include an ice maker... check that as there may be a sensor near that location, himidity may congeal the ice so as to form a big block - blocking air flow.... all caused by a leaky door seal.

When doors are opened it stops. Ice is forming unnaturally in the

It sounds like you may have a bad evaporator fan motor or broken blade.

Another cause could be a failed defrost system component. The would cause a build up of ice and frost and the fan blade could be coming in contact with the frost or ice.

The fan stops running when the doors are opened on this model to prevent the circulation of warm air.

Not sealing. warm air hitting cold air causing frost. also, door frame heater may not be working. most frames are "warm" to the touch. normally called an "anti sweat" heater.

Hi, Check the door seal.

Ice is often caused by warm, moist air getting into the freezer and condensating, then freezing.
