Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-851S ATA Device

This disc drive has worked without a problem since I have had the computer (only about 6 months now) now when I put in a disc it says--- Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run. The problem code is 10.

Any Help would be GREATLY Appreciated!!!

Foolw the guide below, this will edit the registry, making the device visible and useful again.....

Windows Vista
1. Click Start
and then click All Programs.
2. Click Accessories, and then click Run.
3. Type regedit, and then click OK.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

I new new software. My DVD runs on XP and I have 8.1

A DVD drive should operate no matter what the OS is - check first that the BIOS sees it and after that, in Windows, that it's being recognised in Device Manager. If it's not showing there, then uninstall the ATA controller, reboot and see if it works. There may be several controllers but if you uninstall all, Windows will detect them on reboot and, hopefully, it will also detect the drive.

I don't know if you did a clean install of 8.1 but if you 'upgraded' over XP the problem could be there. A clean install is always the best option

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it or you might have a dirty graphics card remove the graphics card and clean the socket

Click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to display adapters + to expand you might see a yellow question mark ? or exclamation mark ! or a red x right click select reinstall drivers
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it if you don

The soft can not a pear just windows black

if you mean that you cant a screen to appear on your computer

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error even something as small as a faulty electrical extension or fan lead can cause a computer to shutdown

computers need all of the data and electrical current to travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly

a motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

also check the Cmos battery and computer ram make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets

and you might not have enough RAM random access memory not having enough will cause your computer to run over its maximum limits and can cause the blue screen of death and hang also uninstall some unnecessary programs and run the chkdsk utitlity
control panel administrive tools, computer management ,disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now, start should schedule this task when restart

you should have no input while the chkdsk utility is I progress any input might damage your computer

then defragment your hard drive
scroll to the bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) right click you can select task manager applications also processes you will see whats running on your computer you might have virus slowing your computer also select users you will see who is using your computer
download and run a registry cleaner cc cleaner is 100%free
