Foolw the guide below, this will edit the registry, making the device visible and useful again.....
1. Click Start
and then click All Programs.
2. Click Accessories, and then click Run.
3. Type regedit, and then click OK.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
4. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
6. In the right pane, click UpperFilters.
Note You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only. If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you still might have to remove the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to step 8.
7. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
8. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
9. In the right pane, click LowerFilters.
10. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
11. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
12. Exit Registry Editor.
13. Restart the computer.

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including
the leads from your
"((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE))" make sure they have a secure connection and
are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error even something as small as a faulty electrical extension or fan lead can cause a computer to shutdown
computers need all of the data and electrical current to
travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly
a motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will
fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin
type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail check all electrical power
input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy
drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working
also check the Cmos battery and computer ram make sure they
are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets
and you might not have enough RAM random access memory not
having enough will cause your computer to run over its maximum limits and can
cause the blue screen of death and hang also uninstall some unnecessary
programs and run the chkdsk utitlity
control panel administrive tools, computer management ,disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now, start should schedule this task when restart
have no input while the chkdsk utility is I progress any input might damage
defragment your hard drive
scroll to the bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) right click you can select task manager applications also processes you will see whats running on your computer you might have virus slowing your computer also select users you will see who is using your computer
download and run a registry cleaner cc cleaner is 100%free
if you need any more help with this post a reply
hope this helps you
