Question about HP OfficeJet T45xi All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I receive a "Cannot connect to PC" when I try to scan using my HP OfficeJet T45xi printer/fax/scanner/copier using Windows XP Home Edition with SP3 on my Dell Inspiron 600M. I have downloaded and run the ojT_ENU_xp1305.exe which is an HP published Windows XP drivers file. I can print but there also seems to be a problem with printing in color. Are there any compatible device drivers from other HP products that help circumvent these issues by installing them?

That is the correct driver.

Make sure you have a good cable (with bidirectional support). Check that the ECP mode is enabled for the parallel port in the Device Manager. Click Start > Properties (Control Panel). Click on the Hardware and then the Device Manager. Open the Ports section and look for the parallel port option (LPT1). Double click on this and look at the Resources tab. If the printer is connected in ECP mode, you will see two entries for the I/O ranges. This may need to be enabled in the BIOS (often reached by hitting F1 or F2 when restarting the computer before the OS loads). If you adjust the BIOS setting for the port, you will need to return to the Device Manager and adjust the Port Settings to Enable Legacy Plug and Play.

If you use a USB to parallel adapter, make sure you got one that supports bi-directional communication.

I hope this helps.

    New computer with Windows Vista

I have my HP OfficeJet T45xi working with Vista Ultimate. I used a cable coverter to switch to USB. I must install the printer with the USB cord unattached. Install as T40xi whose driver comes with Vista. Set to USB port 1 or 2. Plug USB into USB port 1 or 2 (only ones of six USB ports that worked for me). When Windows discovers the printer do not let it install the printer and tell it to not try again.

Works for me. Hope it helps you!
