My hp dv6000 pavilion laptop when put on, gives 1 long beep and 2 short beeps and refuses to come up. i learnt from researches that the problem is with the video card/graphic chip. If thats is the problem, can the video card/ graphic chip be individually replaced? if so ,pls let me know how. thanks

It actually sounds like your memory is corrupt. I would look into purchasing new RAM. In order to ensure you find what your system takes, I have taken the liberty of looking it up for you.

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

you can find a 2x1 gb set for $60.

Good Luck!

Got a hp dv6000 laptop that beeps one long then 2 short beeps on boot up - nothing on screen just black. any ideas?

This is usually caused by a problem with the video card, or the memory on the video card.

Laptop Beeps on start up 1 long and two short beeps

You've checked the memory board/card, but have you tried using another memory card? The 1 long followed by 2 short beeps indicates that there's a problem with the memory card. Try to remove the memory card, then wipe the gold traces with a dry cloth and put it back in.

If you try replacing the memory card but you get the same problem, then proceed with the video card.

One long beep and 2 short beeps

Depending upon your BIOS manufacturer, generally this POST error code means either a video card problem or a motherboard problem. If the RAM is OK then you have a motherboard problem, and this may not be cost effective to fix. Consider putting your money towards a new laptop, remove the hard disk and put it into an external USB adapter case and use it as an USB hard drive for backup etc.

One long beep, two shorter beeps - HP laptop will not start up

Hi...
I had the same problem...
The solution is only temporary and you will have to reapply it after around 5 to 6 boots cuz it'll just happen again (the beep syndrome).

Just heat up the laptop by turning it on and covering its air vents with your hands.

Then after you hear the beeps turn it off.
Turn the laptop on again and immediately turn it over upside down with the lid closed ofcoarse (simply put it on its back).Hopefully you wont hear the beeps and when you open up the laptop lcd...voila display.
