Download Microsoft Essentials and removed several times. It appears in the taskbar but when the computer is turned off and then on again, it has disappeared from the desktop. It states that it is already loaded but not working.

If you can not uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials normally, press "Win+R" then type regedit and press enter, find the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft Security Essentials and delete it. Then re-install the program and uninstall it and you'll remove Microsoft Security Essentials from your computer completely by this way.

Download the free version of MalwareBytes Anti-Malware.

When the program executes, update it, run it and quarantine everything it finds.

Reboot into Safe Mode, usually tapping F8 as the computer starts to boot. Run it again.

Reboot and you are fixed for Malware.

This program is so good I purchased the paid version after using it for years.

You can also go to the Microsoft website and download free Anti-Virus. Windows Defender wil protect you in real time. Download it and run a scan the same way, normal and safe mode.. Let me know how you get on by posting a COMMENT to this post.

Microsoft security essentials does'nt scan my computer & comes up with your computer is unprotected

Uninstall MS Security Essentials.
Go to http://www.avast.com/index
Download their free antivirus software.
Install it and run a scan.

Also go to http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Download their free version.
Install and run malware scan.

Once you have run these two scans and have cleaned any malware off your system, feel free to try MS Security Essentials again (although it's not really necessary).

I recommend buying a license for this software, but it isn't a requirement. Either way it will serve you better than MSSE.

Everytime i start my computer.. there is always a window on the upper left that says: setting up personalized settings,Configuring Microsoft Windows Mail 7 in Vista?that is why i have to again reinstall...

Windows Mail is part of the windows live essentials update pack. If you do not use the features of this pack the easiest solution is to remove this update and not show it again. If you do that the Windows Mail configuration should no longer appear. If you do use the features of Windows Live essentials then just configuring the mail correctly should stop it from trying to configure every time you boot.

To remove the update: go to control panel>add or remove programs> on the left side look for view installed updates> click then click windows live essentials and uninstall at the top

Hope this helps

How to updates?

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

Microsoft Security Essentials usually boots when you turn your computer on. If it's running, you'll see the program's icon in your taskbar on your PC's desktop. If it's not running, click on, Start > All Programs > Microsoft Security Essentials.

Place your mouse pointer on the program's icon in your taskbar and RIGHT click on it. A menu box should open that reads, Open. Click on the word, Open.

At the top of the program's window you'll see 4 (four) tabs. The second tab should be labeled, Update. Click on it. In the Update window, you'll see an Update button. Click on it. (You'll need Internet access to update the program.)

Once you click on the Update button, the program will update itself.

When I wanted to install microsoft Essentials 2011 an error occured 0x80040705

It sounds like you have the "Microsoft Essentials" virus. It is a virus that "pretends" to be a valid security product. "Microsoft Essentials" is just the latest name for it.
Turn off you computer to prevent further damage. Use someone elses' computer to make a bootable antivirus CD you can use on your computer to scan and remove the virus(es).
Here are the instructions and free download: http://www.avg.com/us-en/avg-rescue-cd

If you computer still has problem after removing the virus it means that the virus damaged some operating system files. If this is the case, Google "repair" "windows" and whatever version you are running like XP, Vista or 7.

Once you are running again you may want to avoid Microsoft Security Essentials. The real product is not a virus but is known to slow computers to a crawl. If you want a good free security product try AVG free, Avast free or Avira free editions. Here is a good resource for finding the best: http://www.av-comparatives.org/.

If this helps please vote for my solution.
