Hi

Sometimes it is difficult to get the ring on front load washers; but it is much easier to remove the top, bottom and the front control panel ,then the door and support panel. Now you have the access. However this is a two person job. The spring part of the metal ring goes at the 6:00 position (note the groove on the metal part of the machine). Fit the ring into the gasket as much as you can on the hinge side. While one person uses pliers to stretch the spring, another person uses a flat head screwdriver to move the ring into the gasket groove. The trick is to stretch the spring as straight and close to the machine as you can or else the ring pops off and the gasket has to be reset.

How can I change my Ram from 2 Gb to 4 Gb? Thanks in advance

It's pretty easy when you get your new DDR2 PC2-5300 RAM, just open the access panel on the bottom of your laptop. There will be several screws remove those and pop open the access. Now you should see your RAM there will be to springs retainers on each side of both your installed memory. Touch something metal to remove any static charge from yourself. Now Carefully push the retaining springs away from the RAM, it will pop up slightly. To install remember how you took the old one's out put the connector in first and slowing lay it back down towards the flat position make sure that it is seated all the way and the spring retainers snap around it to hold it in place. Power on make sure your new RAM is recognized. If your laptop detected both your new RAM sticks then reinstall your cover to the bottom. Hope this helps.

Tools required to change brake pads on 2003 impala

Removal & Installation
  1. Siphon 2 / 3 of the brake fluid out of the master cylinder.
  2. Mark the relationship of the wheel to the wheel stud for re-installation purposes. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Install 2 lug nuts to secure the rotor in place when the caliper is removed.
  4. Install a large C-clamp over the top of the caliper housing and against the back of the outboard shoe. Slowly tighten the C-clamp until the caliper pistons are pushed into the caliper bore enough to slide the caliper assembly off the rotor. Use care not to tighten the C-clamp too far or the outboard shoe retaining spring will be deformed and require replacement.
  5. Remove the caliper mounting bolts and remove the brake caliper from the mounting bracket.
  6. DO NOT disconnect the brake hose from the caliper or allow the brake hose to support the weight of the caliper. Support the caliper on a piece of wire out of the way.
  7. Remove the outer brake pad from the caliper using a suitable prying tool to lift the outboard shoe retaining spring so that it will clear the caliper center lug and pull the brake pad out of the caliper.
  8. Remove the inner brake pad by unsnapping the shoe springs from the piston.

To install:

  1. Clean all parts well. If the brake pads were worn so badly that the brake rotor is damaged, it must be replaced. Light scoring of the rotor surfaces not exceeding 0.060 inch (1.5mm) in depth is not harmful to brake operation and may result from normal use. Brake rotors may be refinished. Do not use a rotor that, after refinishing, will not meet the thickness specification cast in the rotor. Always replace with a new rotor.
  2. If not done at removal, now use a C-clamp and clamp both pistons at the same time with a metal plate or wooden block across the face of both pistons. Take care not to damage the pistons or caliper boots.
NOTE After bottoming the pistons into the caliper bore, lift the inner edge of each caliper boot next to the piston and press out any trapped air. Make sure each boot convolution is tucked back into place. Boots must lay flat.
  3. Inspect the caliper bushings for wear. Replace as necessary. Carefully inspect the slide bolts for corrosion. If corrosion if found, use new parts including the bushing assemblies when installing the caliper. Do not attempt to polish away corrosion. Lubricate caliper slide bolts with silicone grease.
  4. Install the new inner disc brake pad in the caliper by snapping the shoe retainer springs into the piston making sure both sets of locking tabs are seated in the caliper pistons. The pad must seat flat against the pistons.
  5. Install the outer pad into the caliper by snapping the outboard shoe retaining spring over the caliper center lug and into the housing slot. The pad will slide up onto the caliper and the retaining ring will lock into place on the groove in the caliper.
  6. The outer pad wear sensor should be at the trailing edge of the shoe during forward wheel rotation.
  7. Install the caliper mounting bolts and torque to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm).
  8. Remove the 2 nuts temporarily securing the rotor.
  9. Install the tire and wheel assembly and tighten to specification.
  10. Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the pads against the rotor.
  11. Check the brake fluid level and top off as necessary.
  12. Road test the vehicle to ensure the proper brake performance.

Good job (remember rated and comment this).

How do i change the brake pads?

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
  1. Remove disc brake caliper from mounting bracket and support with a length of wire or remove sleeve bolt and rotate caliper up and out of the way to remove shoes. Do not allow caliper to hang by the brake line unsupported.
  2. Remove outboard shoe and lining. Use a suitable tool to disengage shoe springs from holes in caliper housing.
  3. Remove inboard shoe and lining, unsnapping shoe spring from piston.
  4. If installing new shoe and linings, bottom piston in caliper bore using large pliers. Take care not to damage piston or piston boot.
  5. Remove bushings from mounting bolt holes in bracket. To install:
  6. Install new bushings to mounting bolt holes in bracket. Lubricate bushings with silicone grease before installation.
  7. Install inboard shoe and lining by snapping shoe retainer spring into piston. Shoe retainer spring is already staked to the inboard shoe. Shoe must lay flat against piston.
  8. Install outboard shoe and lining by snapping shoe springs into holes in caliper housing. Wear sensor should be at the trailing edge of shoe during forward wheel rotation. Back of shoe must lay flat against caliper.
  9. Install caliper.
  10. Apply approximately 175 lbs. (778 N) of force 3 times to brake pedal to seat linings.

How do I get that metal loop around the rubber gasket at the door? It is metal wire with a spring.

Take a flat bladed screwdriver or similar tool then insert it to where the retainer spring connects to the wire hoop at the bottom of the door seal and pull the retainer forward and then off the perimeter of the boot. You may also use a pair of needle-nose pliers to grasp and pull the assembly at the location shown below.

Reinstall the spring and wire hoop assembly by starting at the top then working simultaneously around on both sides going to the bottom of the door seal

My machine wont start ,unless i really have to slam the door real

Either the switch striker/actuator on the door is worn or the door lock/switch assembly on the right side of the door opening is faulty. It is recommended to replace both parts when one is faulty or worn. The door lock/switch assembly is part number 1094190 and costs about $55. The switch striker/actuator is part number 906446 and costs about $5.

Door Lock/Switch Replacement Procedure
  • Unplug the machine.
  • Open the machine's door.
  • Locate the retainer spring of the seal boot retaining hoop at the bottom of the door opening.
  • Stretch the retainer spring apart then remove the retaining hoop.
  • Ease the edge of the seal boot off the lip of the door opening near the door lock/switch assembly. Remove enough of the seal boot to gain access to the door lock/switch assembly behind the front panel of the washer. Be careful not to tear the seal boot. It will cause water to leak out of the machine.
  • Remove the three screws securing the door lock/switch assembly to the front panel.
  • Slightly lift the door lock/switch assembly, pull it away from the front panel then pull it out of the machine.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness and connect the new door lock/switch assembly.
  • Reinstall the new door lock/switch assembly and the seal boot in reverse order of the procedure above.

On a 1989 nissan maxima with sonar suspension II how do you disassemble the strut assembly? the mounting bracket for sonar adapters is in the way of the strut center bolt.

First you must remove the rear seat to gain access to the top strut mounts. The bottom of the rear seat comes out first. On the 91 model there are two tabs at the base of the seat bottm that you pull forward to release the seat bottom. I'm not sure if the 89 is the same. After removal of the rear seat bottom, you will see a bolt at the bottom of each side of the rear seat back that need to be removed. Fold down the arm rest and disconnect the vinyl cover at the base of the armrest to expose and remove two screws. Push up on the rear seat back to unhook three plastic hooks (center and one at each end) at the top of the rear seat back. Remove the seat back. Remove the large metal support panel that is behind the seat back. Safely jack up the rear of the car and support on jack stands so the rear wheels hang free. Doing one strut at a time, remove the two top strut mount bolts leaving the center strut stud nut in place. The strut and mount will lower out of the unibody. Disconnect the bottom strut mount. Remove the strut/coil spring assembly. Using a strut/spring compressor (some auto parts stores rent these) compress the spring. Carefully remove the top strut stud retaining nut, top strut mount, bumpers and strut boot. Carefully install compressed spring, strut boot, bumpers and top strut mount on new strut and install washer and retaining nut. Reinstall strut and etc. in reverse order.

Wire came out that goes around rubber part to front loadingwasher

It sounds like the door boot has come off. The "wire" sounds like it's the wire hoop retainer that holds the boot onto the cabinet.

If this is the case, check to make sure the retainer is all in one piece. If it is, great. If not you will have to replace it.

To put it back on with one person:

1) Find a small flat head that will fit into the small loop (where the small spring that streatches the retainer). If you don't have a flat head, a torx 10/15 screwdriver will fit in there perfect.

2) Rotate the retainer so the spring is at the bottom.

3) Put the top part on in the grove (at 12 o'clock)

4) Stretch the spring while you are feeding the remainder of the retainer in the grove.

This can be difficult to do alone, and if you are unable to do it alone, you will have to use the 3 handed method:

1) Place retainer in grove in the 12 o'clock position.

2) Get another person to help you out, and hold it in place while you stretch the spring and feed the remainder of the retainer in the grove.

Good luck!
