Hello,

this is because the "HOLD" button on the player is turned on. When the "HOLD" button is on, nothing responds on the player.

Check the button next to the On/Off power button, you should find the "Hold" there. Push it to the off direction or turn it off and the player will respond well again once the hold function is off. If you don't find the hold button beside the power button, check the other side(s) of the player and you should find the "Hold" there.

Good luck.

Where can I purchase battery for fx730 portable DVD player

Unfortunately you can not buy a new battery since it is not sold by Sony. It is possible to patch a similar cell into your existing battery. Be warned that it would be difficult to do this.

Hi, I have a sony portable dvd player (DVP-FX730). Is there any way I can make this region free? (currently region 2)

Hi,
I'm afraid, there is no way to change region code in Sony dvd players including DVP-FX730
I'm sorry for that.
Thanks.

Sony DVP-FX730 Portable DVD flashing "Hold on"

There should be a "hold" button to the left of the headphone jack that you can slide and it should stop your screen from displaying "hold on".

My dvd player wont let me push anything it just says hold on..i can use the remote though..

To enable the hold function, on the front of the DVD player, slide the POWER/HOLD switch to the right.

****To disable the hold function, slide the POWER/HOLD switch to the left.
NOTE: When the hold function is enabled, the buttons on the DVD player are locked so they will not work if accidentally touched.***
