Question about Panasonic Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

I have a panafax 8000. It is giving me a J01 error code which is the front door. There is no paper misfeed. It does make an awful squeaking noise also. It just started happening out of nowhere. The fax for us is business critical and I am about to rip my hair out.

paper jam error codes rely on input from sensors in the paper path. On this machine there is 1 sensor that is triggered by a mechanical actuator on the cartridge. Actually, the cartridge is generic, except for the position of this actuator. It is part of the guard that prevents damage to the drum, when it is removed from the machine. The positon of the actuator is different in the case of 4 different manufacturers who use this engine. Now, the effect of this actuator is to tell the machine that a cartridge is actually present in the machine. Now, some cartridge re manufacturers have removed this actuator entirely and technicians will jam the sensor in the machine with gum or a piece of paper to allow the use of this generic cartidge. Unfortunately, the paper path becomes obstructed, not with paper, but by the media that the technician has used to de activate the sensor. Look for this and replace the media with something more robust that will not become dislodged.

SOURCE: J01 error, but no paper jam; can't re-set

Remove the toner cartridge.

There should be 2 switch actuators sticking up from the base.

It sounds like one of these actuators has been knocked loose. Try to clip the actuator back on to the sensor.

This is a TOUGH job, you may need a sercive tech to look at it.

SOURCE: how do you flush the panafax 8000 memory?

Your killing a fly with a sledge hammer. If you do a ALL JOB clear from test mode 6 instead of SHIPMENT SET... you wont loose all your one-touches or fax parameter settings.

Testimonial: "Thank you! That seemed to do the trick! I'll monitor it for awhile--perhaps the big roller should be replaced soon. Greatest fax/scanner!"

One of the feed switch actuators is trapped down. Remove the toner cart and check underneath.

Open the rear door and check there too.
