I have a craftman rear drive mower model: 917.377650 It will not stay running It will run only what is primed. I have replaced fuel lines, gas cap. and cleaned the tank. How can I get it running?

sounds like a plugged high speed jet in carb - you can attempt to prime again , push at least 7-8 times - once it fires continue to push primer to keep running - it may clear out the carb if this doesnt work the carb will need to be removed and cleaned

Turn on gas with the carb bowl off and float hanging and see how much fuel flows.It should be a steady stream.Have seen the seat in the needle and seat swell that only lets gas drip through not enough to keep it running.

The tube in the bottom of the carb. is probably clogged. Remove the carb, and bowl and try spraying WD-40 through the tube, it should spray into the venturi if it doesn't try using a tip cleaner to unclog the tube.

The problem is that the gas that sat in the carb all winter glazed it over and gummed it up. Begin by going to any auto parts store, like an aiutozone, and getting a bottle of carb. cleaner. Seafoam is one I use. Add it to your gas, one ounce per gallon of gas. Also, pick up a can of engine starting spray.

Remove the air filter and spray the engine starting spray into the air intake. Pull start the engine and give it additional squirts of engine starting spray until it runs smoothly.
