With the power cord connected and the unit on, disconnect your data cable(s) from the printer (USB, parallel). Press the power button to turn off the unit; wait 15 seconds and then turn the power on again.

Check if the error comes back. If it doesn't, reconnect your data cable(s) one at a time, checking for the error message between adding each connection. If you see the error, replace that cable.

If the error did come back after cycling the power when no data cables were connected, you have to look at your power cable. If the cable has a power module (box that you plug another cord into), make sure that you have the correct one for the printer.

In either case, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer (first) and unplug it from any surge protector or power strip (second). If you have a power module, unplug the cord from that and reconnect. Wait 30 seconds. Plug the cord directly into the wall outlet and then into the back of the printer. Then turn on the printer.

Check for issues. If the printer turns on, you may have overloaded the power strip. If it doesn't turn on, you should check the outlet for problems. Try using an outlet in a different room (preferably a different circuit breaker). (Move the printer and its power cord.) If the printer still doesn't work, replace the power cord or module.

If none of the above works, the printer needs service.

I hope this helps.

Ink light on changed ink still wont print

it sounds like the printer has not accepted the changed cartridge.

Try turning the printer off at the mains for 30 seconds then back on again, it sometimes works, or if that fails take out the cartridge's turn off printer for 30 mins then back on re insert inks and see if that works.

If it fails then there could well be a chip set failure on the cartridge you have replaced or maybe another cartridge within the set.

It's well worth saving the cartridge too as compatibles sometimes fail to be read by your printer but rarely the actual cartridges fail, you can put that same cartridge back in later for it to be accepted by the printer.

My canon printer multipass mp370 say put in cartidage and say's regitration failed

The cartridges are empty and must be replaced with new ones - models BC-24b for black ink and BC-24c for the colored ink. You can buy them at your local pc or printer shop.
This must be done with the printer and the pc on - once the new cartridges are in a popup window will appear on the screen asking you which cartridges were replaced; tell them both and the Registration failed error message should be gone - check that from the Maintenance > Ink counter reset option.
If it's not then maybe the driver and the associated software is corrupted and it will have to be reinstalled.
If even that fails then the memory chip responsible with keeping theink levels is faulty - this is unfixable, the printer is dead. Sorry, time for a new one.

Every time I try to print or scan it always tells me to remove the ink cartridges and replace them and after I do it tells me that I need to turn it off and on again then the light blinks orange

Hi,try looking for any paper sensor that might have stuck in its place.

wow that machines a fossil now! :P it sounds like you've purchased dud cartridges. the check the dates on the new cartridges, they might b expired. then clean the copper plates on the cartridges with a tissue and a small drop of windex of method, and then where they match up in the printer. sometimes ink can get on the electrics and they don't connect properly with your printer. if all else fails, just take them back and tell the people where u bought them from that they don't work and they should replace them.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for using fixya...

I just replaced all the ink cartridges and the message says ink system has failed turn the power off then on again,. i have tried several times and get nothing

Hi Please follow the the steps given below Make sure that the printer's power cord is connected to the walljack (Avoid if there is any surge protector or extension cord) Take out all the ink cartridges Take a clean cloth, dampen it in distilled water and with that cloth clean copper contacts of the cartridges firmly Let them dry for 2 minutes Unplug all the cables from the back of the printer while printer is turned on (After closing all the doors that are open and also keep the cartridges out) After 2 minutes, plug in the power cable Put the ink cartridges in one by one, then close all the doors again Printer would start going through some maintence and then would start aligning the ink cartridges All the best!! Repaced ink cartridges,

I think it is not recognizing the new cartridges. Try to clean the slots of the cartridges where you place them. Try to clean cartridges bottom.

Than go to windows open the software installation CD provided and recalibrate the printer and there could be one more option to try.

If my advice helps you out rate me.

Thanks
