I disassembled the throttle and sprayed contact cleaner into the switches. The spring was tricky to get back into the housing.. It worked fine afterwards...

Replace the throttle. The throttle in these scooter are very cheap and wear out quick. You can find a throttle replacement at:

Throttle sticks in the open position

check throttle cable to make sure it isn't frayed, check throttle body to see if it has any damage ,sticking , bent shaft. any thing to cause it to not return to closed position. simply reaching over and pulling the throttle all the way open and releasing it (with the engine not running) should answer that. if it returns back on its own then its the cable

Wide open as in wide open throttle?? You mean the engine is racing? Something is wrong with the throttle controls, or the throttle valve in the carburetor may be sticking open. Look down the carb throat. At its base will be the throttle valves-"butterfly" valves just like the choke valve on top of carb. The throttle valve should be closed at rest, or at idle, or when gas pedal is not moved. Rotate the throttle lever on the carburetor by hand (when gas pedal is pressed down, the throttle is rotated). The throttle valve at the bottom of the carb should open and close with the throttle lever.
If the valve is sticking, spray some carburetor cleaner down it, and spray the outside clean, too. Work the throttle back and forth to make sure it is free to move.
For a high idle, have the carburetor adjusted. Timing should be checked, too-that can cause a high idle, but wouldn't cause it to go wide open.
Let us know what you find. Good luck.

Throttle body is sticking

Get the throttlebody gasket. Take the throttle body off, get some throttle body cleaner. clean all the buildup off, make sure not to spray the sensors you could possibly damage them if you need take the sensors out. This should help with the issue.

1990 Ford Tauras 3.0l -throttle stickswide open

check the trottle cable for sticking by unhooking it from the throttle shaft and move through out the full movement there should be no sticking or binding.check the area around the gas pedal to make sure there is nothing that could have caused the problem.if there are okay then check the throttle bore and plate for dirt and binding by looking inside the throttle to see the plate and bore.move the throttle shaft through out the complete range and see if the shaft sticks or binds also checking the cleanliness of the throttle plate and bore.if its dirty clean it this may be all you need to do.if the shaft binds then clean the shaft area to see if it fixes the problem,if not then the throttle shaft may have to be repaired or the throttle body may need replacing,if its the cable then replace the cable.

My throttle sticking, the car has been sitting for a year. When I start it the throttle gets stuck open. Is there an easy way to fix the throttle cable from sticking?

Your best bet is to keep working the throttle. You can *try* to spray a lube such as Tri-Flo onto the braided cable near the end of the sleeve, and see if that helps with working it.
I also suggest taking the throttle cable off of the throttle body, and manually work the throttle body to make sure it's not what's sticking.

I was using my cruise control and when I released it I lost my gas petal only could coast. The cable had come out of the track. Is there something I can do to it to prevent it from happening again.

if the cable came out of the groove in the throttle it usually points to a partially sticking throttle, when it sticks and you release the pedal the cable is left slack and sticking out, when the throttle loosens the cable can come out of its track, make sure the throttle moves smoothly - that the cable runs smoothly in its sheath and clean the entire mechanism with a toothbrush and some alcohol/petrol, when its all clean lightly oil the mechanism and wipe up any excess oil.
If it sticks and does this again I would suspect the throttle is worn and needs replacing. But service the throttle (clean/oil) first and see if its any better.
Theres a possibility the throttle could stick open, if this happens (dangerous!!!) turn the key off one click to kill the engine but not lock the steering. Have it in mind before you test that the throttle could stick so you're not shocked if it happens and can turn the key one click without being in a panic.

Throttle sticks at times when starting out. Hear a popping sound and throttle moves easily then

there is a throttle-stop, this prevents the throttle valve getting stuck in the bore, put simply the valve is a perfet fit and if it fully closes it is liable to get stuck in that position, so a "stop" is employed to keep the throttle just a tiny bit open, but without increasing the idle speed, it is similar to an idle-control screw. tighten this a little, so it keeps the throttle a little more open - check this diagram to find the stop adjuster screw.09aa699.png

1977 Suzuki TS185 throttle sticks

Could be 2 things to look at first.1 the idle adjusting screw has been screwed in to far and is holding the throttle slide open. The other is an air leak between the carby and the motor resulting in the air/fuel mixture being to lean. This would cause the revs of the engine to be to high.Check these 2 things.Hope this helps

Engine keeps cuting out when breaks are applied

I would say idle air control valve sticking. its common on Renaults. This valve controls the air passing through the throttle body when you open and shut throttle. eg, foot down throttle open, the idle valve will be shut. back off throttle, then the air is shut off through main throttle body, so the valve opens to allow just enough air in for tickover. if valve sticking or moving to slowly it will not open in time to catch the idle when throttle shut, hence it cuts out.

Throotle sticking on my FE400e 03 model

Hi ..... The majority of throttles close with the use of a second cable and/or the return spring on the carb. Make sure you have approx' 0.2 of a movement before throttle starts to open, second cable (closing one) is 'tight', it can be adjusted at bars and carb and that the cables are correctly routed (manual will have a diagram). Try lubricating cable(s) and throttle tube on the bars. It'll be something simple .......... let us know how you get on.
