How do I change the belt on the 116 model?

To properly fix a belt on a Kenmore vacuum, you will first need to indicate whether this is an upright or a canister vacuum. The model given, 116, is only the first part of the model number, and all Kenmore vacuums, upright and canister style, start with 116. There is a period first, then a whole string of numbers, 116.255553 etc.

Kenmore vacuums are mainly made by Panasonic for Sears, and most will use a Panasonic belt. If the belt is an upright, this makes it simple, and will be a Panasonic "UB" belt.

For a canister vacuum, most models use what's referred to as a cogged belt. This type of belt has little teeth on the inside of the belt, and is Panasonic CB-5 belt.

Instructions on How to Replace the Belt for an Upright;
There will usually be to plastic screws on the top of the agitator housing on the base of the vacuum, that will say belt access. Simply take a flat head screw driver, and turn the screws so that the screw is pointing up and down on both sides. Then pull the plastic agitator housing, or the top of the base of the vacuum off. Inside you will see a the roller brush, and the belt (or broken belt). Simply take the new belt and wrap it around the silver pulley located in the back of the machine, opposite the roller brush, and wrap the other end of the belt through the roller brush. Stretch the roller brush back into the housing of the machine, and replace the top of the base of the vacuum back on the machine. You should give the belt a tug, to ensure that the brush is spinning when the belt is being pulled..

My dryer model number MEDC400V heats up but the drum does not turn. How do I find the belt to see if it has broken?

There are 2 catches in the front corners about an inch in take a putty knife and push in to release the top. Also take out the 2 screws under the lint filter. Lift up the top. You should see the belt or not. Belt there pull on it to see if it isn't broke. Belt not there broken belt. To replace belt need to take of the front panel. 2 screws in the cabinet top corners. Take them out then front will come forward then you need to lift it up off some little catches on the bottom. Then you should be able to see where the belt goes.

Starter rope broke how do i replace it. toro super recycler mower. Removed the plastic engine cover and the recoil mechanism seems to be rivited down and I cant get in there to replace the rope. Please...

You have to remove the whole engine air shroud over the flywheel to gain access to the recoil and rope mechanism. If you need specific help on your exact model engine I need all of engine model type numbers 5 to 6 char then 4 char then 2 char i.e XXXXXX-YYYY-ZZ for B & S Honda numbers are by the engine oil port on the base of the crank case. Thanks for using FixYa, Kelly

Belt part number and doesnt stop at end of cycle

Go to an appliance parts store and take the belt with you. They can get you a new belt and probably the timer control unit.

Belt Broke - Need to replace it

All you need to do is:

1) Get the actual model number of your Hoover. The information you gave is just what appears on the front of the unit, and that's not the model number. You will find the actual model number on a small tag at the rear of the vacuum near bottom, or on the bottom of the unit.

2) Take that model number to a local independent vacuum cleaner store (not a department / big box store, which will have very limited belt offerings), where they will set you up with a new one. Probably wouldn't hurt to call first just to make sure they carry them / have them in stock.

I think belt broke need to replace

Go to maytag.com then service and parts then use and care manuals then model no. hopefully you can find info. there if not call customer care 800 number. Most times you have to remove the top of dryer then the front to get to the belt. You will have to locate what type fasteners it uses some use a snap lock type fastener others use screws.

Belt type

The belt number is 91001028. The belt will be snug but not real tight, so the belt you got may not be the right one. Most repair shops for vacuums should have this belt in stock.
