My TV shows 3 or 4 shadows to right, they gradually fade so the last one is very hard to see. It is most prevalent when I see white lettering, then there's a distinct bright green shadow. It is everywhere on the screen. It only happens when the TV is warm.
I've had the convergence problem before that causes a color to go completely haywire, this is not the same. This is much more subtle.
This was also posted elsewhere, but not under the right TV. Apologies.

Hi, This tv has two big black ICs as convergence output on deflection circuit board that are defective and causing problem in tv, IC number is STK392-110 replace both ICs to solve tv problem, also chekc for faded color big resistor nearby these ICs or those got burn mark, replace these resistors with same value, aslo check cold/ dry solder joints in deflection circuit board and resolder these joint/ connections. Thanks.
Your convergence board is in need of reworking on a component level or replacing the board! And you will most undoubtedly need to resolder the vertical IC and all ICs mounted on heatsinks on the power supply board. This TV is showing its age. You may choose to repair and that may last a year more or so! Good Luck and thank you for asking!
Ur tv convergence are dead.U must know how to solder.U must have soldering tools, and solder to fix convergence problems.Must repalced 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors.Tries websites like Tvrepairworld.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a convergence kit to repair it ur self. The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.
Hi, Symptom shows tv got problem with green picture tube that need to be replaced. Rear projection tv has 3 picture tubes, red-green-blue to make color picture. Since its an old model so spare parts would hardly be available and local tv repair shop will help you to arrange required part, if they can. Thanks.
The CRTs in this model of TV had a problem with internal leakage. The blue was usually the first to show the symptom (flicker). Because all 3 CRTs are connected to the same high voltage source, when 1 acts up, the other 2 suffer as well. You need to replace the Blue CRT. However, this TV has some age on it... 1 tube will lead to 2 tubes, and 2 tubes to 3... They only last about 7 years. If you love the TV, replace all 3 (about $200 each). I recommend replacing the Red and Blue first, adjusting the geometry and convergence to the original Green. Then replace the Green, adjusting the geometry and convergence to the new Blue and Red.
This could be your video board going bad where your input cables are connected --OR-- the color wheel going bad. Hard to tell without a photo or reference though. Try swapping the cables first... and listen for any winding or whirring sounds.
The service manual on page 8 shows how to adjust the Red/Blue/Green screen voltages. To get to the adjustment board, take the front speaker grill off (two screws at the bottom left and right) and set it aside. No need to disconnect any wires. Then remove the plywood board with 4 screws that exposes the screen/focus adjustments. The top 3 adjustments are for focus, and you need not mess with these. The bottom 3 adjustments are for Red/Blue/Green screen voltage rough adjustments. My screen showed red lines, so I had to turn the bottom right adjustment with a philips head screwdriver just slightly until the red gun retrace lines where no longer visible.
