Try right clicking on My Computer on the desktop, then left click on Properties. It should say your computer model in the system list.

Computer won't start, i turn on only get blank screen with a blinking light in uper left conner

1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
4. The power button could be bad.
5. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced

How long ago did you purchase your computer? If your within the return policy i'd return it right away. It appears that you have a bad Hard Drive.

If your outsitde the return policy, you'll have to purchase a new hard drive and get it installed or contact HP and send out your unit to get repaired.

If you purchased a PSP with your laptop, Geek Squad will take care of it all for you.

Compaq Presario 700 laptop problem

Most of the time blue screens like that indicate hardware issues. You may try replacing the memory. I wouldn't put too much money into something of that age, though.
