sounds like the motherboard has failed. I had those same symptoms this summer. Replaced m/b and it's good again.  Did you count the 'continuous' beeps? That's a code to say what is wrong.

SOURCE: FIC P4M 915G/PD1 system fails to Power Up

You should always try a new power supply if possible. After all, it is one of the most likely components to fail - it's got moving parts (one or more fans), just like your hard drive (spinning platters), one of the other most likely parts to die.

That said, in this instance it probably is the mobo. FIC made great motherboards, but they got out of the business so you won't find the same one anywhere. If you have to replace it, you may be able to get out of a Windows reinstall by getting a motherboard with the same chipset, which looks like a 915/G, though any 915 based board might do. You may still need to do a repair install, but in many cases the same chipset allows you to boot and then just load all the new different drivers for the new board.

if it doesn't come on, remove the memories. and swap the memories. if it still doesn't come on, remove the memories. and see if the BIOS come sup. if it doesn't, then you have motherboard problem.
go back and check all connections. make sure the connectors are in right orientation and not pins are missing.

My Ps3 wont load the dashboard help

Please try the following solution to fix your PS3. Please note, option 5 will erase your hard drive so any save games you had will be lost.

Step 1.

Turn your Playstation 3 off into standby mode (red light on)

Step 2.

Press and hold the power button. The Playstation 3 will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later and then beep once more and turn off back into standby mode (red light on). You must now release the power button.

Step 3.

Press and hold the power again. The Playstation 3 will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later then there will be 2 quick beeps together. When you hear these 2 quick beeps release the power button.

Step 4.

Your Playstation 3 will now start up with a screen asking you to connect a controller via USB. Connect your controller and then press the PS button.

Step 5.

A menu will now be displayed on screen. Select option 3 "Restore File System". This will then ask you to confirm that you wish to go ahead with the system restore. Accept whatever the Playstation 3 says.

The Playstation 3 will now go through the system restore process and re-install the system software back to out of the box status. If it still does not work try the above but choose option 4. If that does not work try option 5 as a last resort, this will erase the hard drive.

Once you have completed the above, the Playstation 3 should restart and spring back to life again!

I hope this helps all of those out there who are suffering this problem.

If it does not, do the above but choose option 4. If this does not work do the above again and choose option 5. Option 5 will format your hard drive.

Step 3. Again, press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later, then there will be 2 quick beeps together. Release the power button when you hear these 2 quick beeps.

Hi.when i turn on my ps3 it freezes at the main screen.please say i dont have to buy a new 1,i dont have the money. :(

Ok, if it is simply the image that is freezing and it is still staying on then there is hope for the PS3.
If however it is turning off with 3 beeps and flashing the red light then that is serious.

Please try the following if it is just the display freezing :

Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later and then beep one more time and turn off into standby mode (red light on)

Release the power button

Press and hold the power button again. It will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later and this time there will be 2 quick beeps together. Release the power button when you hear these 2 quick beeps.

The PS3 will start up asking you to connect the controller via USB and press the PS button. Do this and then continue.

After doing the above a menu will load with 6 options. Choose option 3 "Restore File System". This will re-install the PS3 software if it has become corrupt. Ignore any messages about corrupt hard drive, this is normal. If this step does not work try the above again but select option 4, then 5 if that doesn't work.

One of these options should get your PS3 up and running again.

Corrupt hardhrive msg comes up and can not do anything

Follow these steps to try and bring your hard drive back to life :-

Step 1. Turn the PS3 off into standby mode (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep as soon as you press it, then beep again 5 seconds later and then beep once more and turn off. When the console turns off please let go of the power button.

Step 3. Press and hold the power button again. It will beep when you first press it, then beep 5 seconds later, then there will be 2 quick beeps together. When you hear these 2 quick beeps let go of the power button.

Step 4. The PS3 will start up asking you to connect a PS3 connector via USB and press the PS button. Do this and then go onto the next step.

Step 5. A menu will then load. Choose option 3 "Restore File System". The PS3 will restart and may report that your hard drive is corrupt, ignore this and click on "OK" to continue. Let the PS3 do its thing and hopefully when it restarts all will be well again.

If this procedure does not work, follow steps 1-4 again but on step 5 choose option 4. If this does not work try again but with option 5.

If none of these procedures work then I am afraid it looks like your hard drive may have become faulty. This will mean you will have to purchase a new one.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa
