My computer are very slow a lot's of virus - Computers & Internet

I am assuming you are asking about Cortana.
Cortana is a voice activated personal assistant that you can use to get Weather forecasts, remind you of appointments and/or dates, send email, Etc. A lot of people find this program helpful, and a lot of people find this program annoying, ( BECAUSE IT SLOWS THEIR COMPUTER DOWN). You can disable this program two ways: 1st way, launch Cortana from the search bar on the task bar, click settings from the left pane, and under Cortana the first option I believe, slide the button switch to the off position; 2nd way, type gpedit.msc in the search box to open the editor, go to Local computer policy/ Computer configuration/ Administrative templates/ Search. Then double click the policy named allow Cortana. I believe this is it for the second way. Hope this helps. Let me know.

The computer may be running slow for a lot of reasons. A simple quick fix is: Make sure you have an updated anti-virus & malware, run a full scan, delete all the browsing data, temporary files, cookies, make a disk cleanup and defragmentation. This may help a lot, let me know how it works out.

Try opening Windows task manager, terminating some programs and see if the computer runs quicker. If not then make sure you have an up to date anti-virus. Personally I would recommend Norton Anti-Virus, the full version that you pay for or any other full version anti-virus will do. Scan your computer for viruses and then have the anti-virus remove them. The problem may also be that the Operating system (OS) you are running may be using up a lot of computer resources and you may have to switch to a less demanding OS or upgrade your computer to the recommened specifications of the OS.

you have probably have a virus so i would recommend scanning a virus scan.
also you may have a lot programs on the computer so you you uninstall the programs that you do not use.

You need to find out what process is hogging up your resources and slowing down your computer. Open task manager and look for a process that is using up a lot of CPU, memory or both. Once you have found the process first google the name to see what program it belongs to and if it is legitimate or a virus.

If the process is tied to an application you can end the process and see if your computer speeds up. If this is the case you will need to do a little research to see why that application is so resource intensive.

If it is a virus you will need either use another anti-virus program to remove it or find instructions on how to do it manually.

see the problem could be that u have either a slow internet connection.
other wise ur computer could be filled with viruses and Trojans.


do a spyware check and an anti virus check

u might find lots of them

u could also download(i know if u have a slow speed this will feel bad but.....) "tune up utilities "
do a Google search
it has functions to optimize internet browsing and downloading speed..

Slow computer can be cause of a low RAM of it and also if there's a lot of program/application install on it and also if there's any virus or malware operating on your syste.
The best that you can do first is to try to scan your system with a good anti virus like avast, avira and other to make sure your system is free from virus that may cause it to slow down then if still slow, try removing programs that your not using to free some resources for your computer and the best thing that you can do is try updating the RAM of your computer that will really make it faster..

Using different products for anti-virus, firewall and anti-adware is fine in itself. I am not sure if you mean that the downloading is slow (which can be if you download all these programs at the same time), or if you PC is slow in general.

Personally I used a lot of speed tweaking tips from www.PCauthorities.com Some is advanced, but a lot is easy to understand.

That is usually the case. Norton eats up a lot of resources. If it is slowing the computer too much, either uninstall it, turn off real time protection or get more RAM for your PC.

win xp required more then 256 mb ram
mcafee antivirus make system slow,
it take more ram
so u remove antivirus & also
go to run give msconfig
then remove start up items.
