Hi,

I highly recommend that you instead consider using a card reader to move the photos or videos to your computer. Card reader's do not require software (although Windows 98 and earlier may require drivers), are very inexpensive, are much faster downloading files from the camera, do not use the camera's batteries during the download, and are much less prone to file corruption of the photos during the download.Really, it would be better for the camera user if one of these was included with the camera instead of the cable and bundled software. You place the camera's card in the reader, plug the reader into the USB port, and your computer sees it as a hard drive. You simply copy/paste or drag/drop your photos onto your hard drive. For this simplicity, most professional photographers utilize card readers exclusively. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache if you convert to using one of these. Also make sure that you get a reader that is clearly stated capable of reading your card, particularly if you use SD-HC, XD, CF, or MS cards.

Thank you!

I have a sony cybershot w120 digital camera, it has malwares. but i can still take pictures. I will reformat it soon, but before that, I would like to copy the pictures from the cam to the pc. But I cannot...

If it is infected, try the corrupted card procedures in the following link. Also take no more pics until you've recovered your photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that may help you recover your photos. This article reviews and outlines several of the better ones:

Just hook the camera up with the supplied cable to any xp, vista, or 7 computer and the drivers should already be on the computer to transfer photos over to the hard disk drive of the laptop or desktop in question.

Transfering photos from my compuer photo gallery to my camera

Make sure photo files name must be under DSC00001 to DSC99999
connect your camera to computer, click My Computer, Removable Disk, Folder and copy photo files from computer and paste in that folder. If file name is different, camera will not show it in playback though file is in memory stick.

Twain error message w/ cybershot dsc-f505

do you use a card reader? or do you connect the cam to your pc to download the pics? best way to transfer the images to the pc is a card reader, but some readers wont accept a memorystick with "lock" turned off, so for example if you have a 128MB memorystick, turn write protect on. switch to "off" position (it is a small switch on the stick) then the card reader will "see" the stick, but erasing and writing is not possible with the pc...

Cybershot DSC- W1

So many video/picture programs will work with this camera. I use it with both Vista and XP OS. I never loaded software on Vista PC. I just use the "Start/Computer/Disk F (on my PC)" I just hook up the USB cable to camera and PC and then click on Disk F. You should then see the picture files and you can click and drag these files to a photo folder that you designate.

Try using the sandisk with your computer to make sure the PC can read the card first of all. If that gives you an issue, the card could be bad.

Unrecognised file format

Has the card been out the camaera and into a computer in the mean time? Or have you loaded back up stuff from the computer? If you do not work this way- take the card to a processing store and ask for the images to be burned to disk while you wait - see what they say about the picture you cant assess in the camera.other wise it mean saving those you can and formatting the card in the camera. Or if you have an access to a PC and recovery software see what can be pulled out . for suitabler software to do this try www.pcinspector.com or www.konvar.com
