Question about Elna 2007 Mechanical Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Elna sewing machine, the timing is out.

I've got an Elna series sewing machine, and the timing has gone out, the needle is hitting the bottom bobbin case too soon so is'nt sewing, I think that the timing has gone out on the motor, I've taken the covers of the machine and cleaned it up myself but don't know how to do this myself and am trying to avoid expensive repair bills! Thanks,
Katie Dadds

I have an Elna 7000. The needle has started to hit the bottom of the bobbin case. Is there a way that I can fix this?

Install a brand new needle. If that doesn't fix the problem, you need to take it for service.

I was sewing with elna machine and ran out of thread. This caused the thread to ball up underneath and "jam" the machine. I cleared it out and rethreaded it, but now the top thread doesn't catch the bobbin...

it is possible that the sewing machine has a timing problem, but check to see if the needle is inserted correctly into the needle holder
make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case if the machine has a top loading bobbin
if the machine has a side or front loading bobbin also make sure the bobbin case is inserted correctly into the machine.
and also make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take up lever

My elna 7000 bobbin thread will not pull up with the needle in order to sew.

try changing the needle
rethread the machine top and bobbin
here is a link for a manual if you don't have one

http://sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Manuals/Elna_Manuals/7000_Instruction_Manual.htm

try a different bobbin incase that one is warped
it's also possible that the machine could need the timing checked

The thread on the needle of my Elna sewing machine wont pick up the thread on the bobbin and bring it up?

Is your needle in backwards, always the flat shank to the back, make sure it is in all the way up in its housing too. Is it a new needle, not blunt, bent or hooked on the tip, sometimes we don't notice butthe needle is very important and should be changed every 4-6 hours sewing time. The shuttle hook goes around and catches the upper thread during stitch-formation, timing of these two parts is crucial so if this is a machine that has been damaged or do you suspect the timing is out perhaps. If so, technician time.

try changing the needle
if changing the needle doesn't help then it's possible that the machine
is out of time & needs to be checked at a repair shop

I have a Elna 6003. Recently I started having problems with the stitches skipping, and the machine was making a clicking sound. Now I have discovered that the needle is hitting inside the bobbin case and I...

skipping stitches can be the needle is damaged--flat side of needle goes to the back side of machine
normally when the needle is hitting the inside of the bobbin the timing is usually off, & can only be fixed by a sewing machine repair tech

Needle hits the white plastic where the bobbin case sits.

It may be as simple as you didnt get the needle pushed all the way up in the needle bar. Get new package of needles and try a new needle and make *sure* it goes up as far as you can push it. the reason I suggest a new pkg of needles is if one is bad in the pkg, they are probably all bad. If that doesnt fix it then the needle bar timing/height is off and need to be repaired/adjusted by a tech.

Singer Touch & Sew 7462 - Needle hits bottom of bobbin case

With the needle hitting the bobbin case , it sounds like it might be out of time. Which I am sorry to say is not an easy at-home fix.

Needle & Bobbin out of sync

This description sounds like the machine is out of time. The needle should match up with a cut out section in the bottom of the bobbin area. If it is hitting, the timing has slipped, probably from sewing on a fabric that was too heavy for the machine.
