Computer is not recognising camcoder cannon mv920

Depending on the type of connection that you have between the camera and the computer, you may have to reload either the camera software or update the computer USB or IEEE1394 drivers. I would first check the cable to make sure it is not the problem.

Hello can you please tell me how to copy video recorded in tape using canon mv920 into my laptop. Is there any driver available for that if so please could you give me the information Thanks in...

-turn on and switch your camcorder to playback mode and make sure that the tape is totally rewounded.(you're going to stream the video from the cam to pc using a supplied software or a thirdparty software like windows movie maker)

-connect your camcorder to your pc and you have to use a dv cable(4 pin to 4 pin or 4 pin to 6 pin type) the first end is a 4 pin which will be connected to your camcorder and the other end depends on what type of dv port you have in your computer(4 pin or 6 pin) Use the optional CV-150F (4 pin-4 pin) or CV-250F (4 pin-6 pin) DV Cable. the dv port on your camcorder is on the strap side on the upper part and its covered by a oval rubber

-once connected to the computer, ready your software(supplied or any other software that could record streamed videos ie: windows movie maker.

-play video from the camcorder then hit the record button from software( you're basically recording the videos from the camcorder live to your pc :)

- reply or post for questions

My computer can't read the canon as removable device? I can't download my recoding.

Connect your cam to another computer to confirm If so your PC is having errors in the software or that the port is defective. If not the software must be removed and reinstalled.

I have an acer 5740G laptop to which when i am connecting the MV 920 cannon cam corder through the camera's port in to the laptop's USB port, the laptop does not recognise this as an external removable...

This type of camera usually downloads better with a Firewire (DV) connection. Some mini-DV cameras only use the USB connection for stills (if they have one) and can only download video by Firewire. This is because you have to play the tape into the computer, not just copy a file.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. With desktop Windows PCs, you can fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This comes with a driver for the card. If your laptop doesn't have a Firewire socket, then you are probably stuck.

Can i use external boom mic for my canon mv920 mini dv camcorder? will the socket match with my camcorder's?

If your cam has an external mic jack and your mic has the matching connection you should be golden if they don't have the same connection try radioshack they should be able to hook you up with an adapter...If their adapter is insanely priced try monoprice.com.
