Question about Motorola Mobility RAZR V3i Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Keypad Problem Hello. After having a Razr V3i for about a week, it was accidentally completely submerged in non-clean water for about 5 - 7 seconds. I took the battery out, the sim card out, and the memory chip out and proceeded to apply low amounts of heat. After 2 hours of providing a low amount of heat to the phone i proceeded to turn it on. Nothing happened. I let it dry out over night and then tried to turn it on and it came on just fine. It seems now that the phone works perfectly, except the only button that works on the keypad is the Red On/Off button. After playing with it for a few hours, I took the back cover off of the flip part of the phone and proceeded to clean the connectors inside with alcohol. I put the phone back together and still had no success with the keypad. I then plugged the phone into my computer using the usb cable and Windows has a notification saying it does not recognize the USB device because it has malfunctioned. However, I can go to My Computer and see my phone and access the phone and the files I have put on it. After unplugging the phone from the computer, now no keys work. I cannot turn it off now. Any help you can provide me would be greatly appreciated!

Sir it is a typical problem when the set is interacted with water.... my advice is you must go to a local mobile service station and consult with them.. most probably if water has affected only keypad means they will change the keypad and will give u... if any vital element is affected then they will try to change that... but you have said it was working fine.. only keypad problem.. so better go to service station... hope i have helped you.. dont forget to rate me.. thank you sir..

I had the same problem--it turned out that there was a tear in the underside of the keypad. The keypad was replaced. It cost $35, but the phone works fine now!

you can take the battery and the back off the device and place in completely submerged in a bag of white rice and leave it in there for 1 to 2 days this will help absorb the moisture, this should fix it if the water did not damage the circut boards if the water damaged the circut boards then the device is fried

Motorola RAZR V3i Camera Problem.

Hey cmxa,

It is possible that the flex connection in the phone has become loose. (seems to be a common problem with the v3's) Or worse, your camera module has gone bad. Is the unit still under warranty? Send the unit in for repair, and they should be able to resolve it quite quickly.

Hope this helps,
cHiPz.
