Beg M-Audio to get their drivers properly updated!

They have some for download on their site at www.m-audio.com -- but they don't appear to work on my Windows Vista Home Premium laptop Service Pack1 though I have been trying them and others all day to get Reason to recognise the keyboards existence.

My friend had a similar problem with them over a USB mixer when he went to Windows 7 - they just wouldn't update the drivers for a relatively recent USB mixer...
He ended up getting rid of it. I won't be using any more M-Audio gear - not because of operational problems --but because their solutions seem to take forever and they dont usually work.

I bought a brand new Fast Track Ultra Audio card from them (my last purchase) and it was so un stable with my Mac that I sent it back. The suppliers were not surprised - It was a hardware fault but M-Audio wouldn't admit it.

Eventually they offered to REPAIR a brand new unit!!!

It has cost them dearly though, I am fairly loyal as a customer and I will not be returning to them unless they drastically sort the support side of their business out.

At the moment, they are sending a clear message to customers - DONT EXPECT PROPER SUPPORT FROM US WE ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY.

Anyhow, here endeth the rant.
I am 99 percent certain that mine will end up in the bin now.

MD-1700 keyboard. How do I connect it via the USB port on the computer?

MIDI(Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a standard data transfer system used exclusively for instrumentation. A side from amps 7 recording equipment many PCs, laptop & TVs have MIDI access built into them. If they can interface with a UBS connection it is more likely the exception rather than the standard. Below is a link to the users manual for your keyboard. Start reading on page 39.

Deck a wont work anymore

check the midi signals being generated against what your program expects. You'll possibly find a control has ceased working in which case it's likely a bin job. If however the setting is wrong you can normally change it in the program.

Ctk 810in not able to read or play midi files

If you connect to PC using USB interface, then use a commercial midi player - e.g Melody Assistant or Harmony assistant to play MIDI files to it.

Or else download "SMF convertor" to convert midi files and download compatible file to keyboard.

Sd card is not able to read midi files

Get a supported SD card. 1GB is supported by most Casio Keyboard. You need to format the SD card in the Casio Keyboard.
Midi files must be located within folder called "MUSICDAT". Some models only support "type 0" midi files.

Have a Digitech Vocalist II that stopped reading the midi chords transmitted by my keyboard. Checked midi cords, all settings (keyboard and harmonizer). And the inside of the digitech. It does not appear...

try a different signal source (tape player, cd player etc) and see if the sound gets into your device, if it doesn't see that sound either, then the problem is with the digitech and not your midi keyboard. The digitech doesnt have midi chords, just analog so I'm a bit confused when you say MIDI. I have the digitech vocalist IV and it doesn't have midi in or out either. only analog in, also two XLR's and etc. great machine by the way, I'm sorry to hear yours has quit working for whatever reason.

You need to understand what the program is doing.
An MP3 file is a recorded music performance like a phonograph record. A MIDI file is a set of instructions for performing music, like sheet music. The converter program is an attempt to turn the record into sheet music. There is no perfect way to do that. You should have gotten something out of the program, though. It sounds more like a computer problem. Try a very simple sound file, convert it to MIDI, and see if you can get something out. If your keyboard can't read it, try putting any known good MIDI file on the card and read that. Possibly your keyboard will only read certain formats or sizes or speeds of cards. See if the manual tells you anything. It might read FAT16 regular speed cards under 1 GB, for instance, and balk at a SDHC 16 GB NTFS formatted card. So, do some detective work.

Reason as a sound module with the 8800

I have a boss 1600 and ive used it in the way that sounds similar to you situation. It sounds like you have overdubbed track 1 to next track. If you dont want to hear track 1 while rec. track 2 turn fader down, unless you have already recorded or overdubbed 1 to 2.You should be able to hear track 1 unless you turn fader down or cancel tracksound for the time being.track 1 swhould be heard but it wont be re-recorded youll only hear it unless you turn fader down.Thats how mine works anyway. It lets you hear it if you want but wont record until you song save or during bounce nd mixdown. Then you select the tracks and or the virtual track you want to use.Id try to undo or stat again and read about the overdubb in manual.Im sure youll figure it out.I cant hardly imagine what all that 8800 has and is capable of doing. But ive seen one and i think the midi devices work alot alike.Hope you get it.Praisehim316.

Midi cable wont work with vista

Just like mine. Well, go to http://www.esi-audio and click on the Midi Device Driver for vista. It should be MIDIMATE. Thats the new one. The cable is blue. If yours is white, then download MIDI mate for vista. They are both different, so better be careful.
