If her pc has a external speaker, I suggest to check the connections first. If all connections are secured, check the volume. On the lower right corner of the screen (where the clock is), you can find the volume icon there. Click on it. The volume screen will come up, check if it is turned up. If mute box is ticked, uncheck it.

Now if it still not working, I suggest to reboot. Check again if a sound will come out. If none, check the driver if it is installed. By going to sound speech and audio devises in the Control Panel to check if the driver is there, if not either got to the manufactures website and download it or reinstall the recovery disk.

Good Luck!

I have a gray bar on the left side of my screen on my desk top that I cannot remove to get a full screen. Help.

Hello. That problem can be hardware, such as a faulty mother board (the video card is part of the mother board on the iMacs). This also depends ont the iMac model that you have. If it is a G5, there was a series problem with condensers on the motherboard, but it is now too late to claim a replacement. If it is a newer iMac with intel chip, I would advise to bring the Mac to an AppleStore near your place or a repair shop for a complete diagnostic.

I think that on an iMac, this kind of problem can't be software related, because it is an all-in-one desktop with no separated screen settings.

Hope that helps

AKG 120 on Mac, I don't get feedback on headphones or internal spekears . Recorded voice , I can see is there but can't hear anything....

Sounds like you have a computer sound issue. If the waveform is shown, and the amplitude is sufficient then it should playback audio. Not familiar with Mac but check mute settings, sound card volume, input/output config., audio routing, etc.

How to disable drivelock password.I don't know the password. It was inadvertantly set by one of my kids.

Unless you set a master DriveLock password to reset it with, then (according to HP at least) the hard drive will be rendered completely unusable. I think your best bet would be to try and get your kids to give you the password.

Im trying to print an envelope using a Dell 3100cn. Im driving the printer with a mac. and cannot get it to print

I'm not familiar real familiar with the Mac OS but, the printer needs to be told to switch to and envelope. This is done by inserting a printer control code into the datastream when the envelope is needed.

I need to know what type of datastream the printer is expecting. i.e. PostScript, PCL or PCLXL.

If there is any way you can generate a "Print File" and send it to me I will be glad to read through it and see if I can spot the failure.

Send the file to don.farr@hotmail.com.

I do not charge any fees for reading and determining the failure if I can find it for you.

Took my hard drive out of my pc lap top because the mother board is fried and i bought the aluratek hard drive cover with usb connecter and mac compatible hooked it up to my mac lap top to transfer files...

The smart bit is irrelevant but you should be able to transfer your files off it OK.
I don't know how mac familiar you are but all you have to do normally is plug the drive in to a convenient USB port and plug in some power. (Some drive cases that don't have external power need to plug in to the computer with a special lead that has 2 USB clugs on one end.)
After 5-10 seconds the drive should pop up on the desktop, you can then open it and copy stuff off.
Where does this pop-up come from as I've not experienced one in years of Mac support.

I have bought an Apple Mac notebook but am having problems accessing the internet. I think I have inadvertently changed the password to the wireless router as I have succesfully conected my main computer...

This is a confusing report. If you are successfully connecting two other computers to the router using the original router password, why can't you connect your MacBook Pro to the router using the same password? Or is it that the other two computers "know" the original password but you don't?
If one of the other two computers is a Mac, use the Keychain Access utility to look up the stored password for the router.
If not, use one of the other two computers to access the router's configuration screens directly and obtain the password that way.

YouTube videos play, but jump from scene to scene. Audio plays in real time and sounds fine.

turns out you have an iBook G3. Your computer is really too outdated to be expected to play video properly. You can add more RAM but it really will only partially help you out. the G3 computers just aren't made for decoding streaming video, especially now that YT has HD video.

Add Memory to G4 Notebook

Don it's real easy.

http://www.macinstruct.com/node/162

Slim down version

  • Pop the cover and you'll see the motherboard.
  • Atach anti-static cable to chasis of pc and touch the battery pack or pc frame.
  • Put the card in the memory slot.
  • Remvoe cable adn replace cover.
  • Re-start pc.
Note:

I wouldn't fix your pc on carpet (static reasons) or while your standing wearing socks on carpet with the Mac on the table (obviously).

Sounds simple but you've never believe how may people forget.

That's it.
