My eurolec oven is letting the heat out and burning the cupboards

My eurolec oven is letting the heat out and is buring/melting the cupboards on either side and the knobs are too hot to touch when the oven is in use - Can you please advise what I can do as I cannot find a Eurolec helpline number! I have just superglued the oven seal so it is airtight but I could still get a piece of paper through the door!

Check that the fibre glass is still in place and has not been soacked with water, you can get some fibre glass from your local stores and wrape it just after openning the couvers and puting them back to place

Defy slimline eyelevel oven installed in cupboard.

Assuming it is an electric built in or built under oven, these are commonly fitted into a dedicated cupboard (oven housing) that matches the other kitchen units and typically little or no facility for ventilation is provided.
Electric ovens are usually so well insulated and covered with reflective foil the need for ventilation is minimal, especially when a standard size oven is fitted into the correct standard sized housing as it will provide an air-space of an inch or more all around.

It can be expected the housing near the top of the oven will become warm after a while and the shelf above likely to become warm enough to soften a candle but if it gets hot enough to actually melt a candle I think that is rather too hot. The addition of additional insulation and reflective material should improve matters greatly.

I suggest you approach the guy who fitted the oven if it was professionally fitted. It would have been his responsibility to only fit a suitable appliance and if additional ventilation was required he should have advised you.

I believe I have seen some oven housings with a slim grille over the oven and it is probable there would have also been a slot cut at the rear and perhaps a short piece of trunking to carry warm air away from the space directly above the oven.

F9 error message during self cleaning

Dennis the F9 indicates the door lock switch has not positioned correctly. By what you are describing it sounds like the lock mechanism did not pull the door in tight for the cleaning resulting in the code. It's possible it could be a pinched wire on the locking mech. What needs to be done here is that someone has to examine the door lock mechanism to insure it's operating correctly. The door should be pulled tight and the switch sould be closed on the cam. Looks like the support is overseas. However they do have email support. If I knew the make and model I might be able to obtain more information. Otherwise here is the email link for support:

You should really have a gap between the cupboards and the oven which would be stated in the manufacturers instructions (if you still have them) . I presume it is a free standing oven? You could try Homelux insulation board or stove wrap and is sold in B&Q.

My stoves oven is burning my kitchen cupboards

If you could provide some more information, then I may be able to help. What part of the oven is causing the problem, i.e. top or bottom door. If the doors don't shut properly then this may cause the hot air to escape. If it is one of the doors, is it sitting square in the frame?
