The flashing standby light is generally an error code. Please let me know the pattern that it is flashing (should be a certain number of blinks, and then repeat depending on the tv). I also need the make and model number of the tv and any more information that you might be able to provide as to reasons why the tv doesn't turn on anymore (lost power in house due to a storm, etc. )

Do you have this tv plugged in directly to the wall or to a power surge protector?

Nine blinks - Replace D 6116 and D 6301 on the "G" board, do not resolder as this will fix the problem temporary. Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negative).

Basically, if you don't know how to solder, then get someone that does to replace the two "D" labeled parts mentioned above and that should fix the problem in most cases. The parts can be bought from a local repair shop. Let me know how this works out for you.

This is a classic switchmode power supply, shutting down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both. This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, This set should be removed from the Power, and in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand.

Six flashes of the Red Stand By Light means the +5V line is probably shorted on the A or B board. Could also be an overload. Replacement boards can be ordered here: http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
